Lord of the Wings
Lord of the Wings: A Meg Langslow Mystery | Donna Andrews
8 posts | 12 read | 2 to read
A new side-splitting Meg Langslow mystery from awardwinning, New York Times bestselling author of The Good, The Bad, and The Emus. The brilliantly funny Donna Andrews delivers another winner in the acclaimed avian-themed series that mystery readers have come to love. The eighteenth book in her New York Times best-selling series continues to surprise and delight in this next knee-slapping adventure featuring Meg Langslow and all the eccentric characters that make up her world. It's another holiday and Mayor Randall Shiffley has turned Caerphilly, Virginia into Spooky City, USA. The residents are covering every window with cobwebs and roaming the streets in costume to entertain the tourists, and Meg's grandfather is opening a new "Creatures of the Night" exhibit in the zoo. When a real body at the zoo and a suspicious fire at the Haunted House threaten to mar the town's creepy fun, it's up to Meg Langslow to save Halloween. Like Meg Langslow, the blacksmith heroine of her series, Donna Andrews was born and raised in Yorktown, Virginia. She introduced Meg to readers in her Malice Domestic Contest-winning first mystery, Murder with Peacocks, and readers are still laughing. This novel swept up the Agatha, Anthony, Barry, and a Romantic Times award for best first novel, and a Lefty for funniest mystery. With Lord of the Wings, readers can look forward to another zany Meg Langslow mystery--this one filled with Halloween spirit and suspense.

The Halloween festival has taken over the town & Meg is in charge of the Goblin Patrol, citizen security. Dr. Smoot, the vampire-loving former medical examiner, is back with his home serving as Caerphilly history museum - and haunted house. 😆 Between the vampire LARPers, trouble at Grandfather‘s zoo, and the twins‘ demand that Tinkerbell and Spike have costumes, Meg has her hands full! Then someone starts a rogue scavenger hunt that turns deadly…

Gissy I will try the first book in this long series 11mo
mabell @Gissy Oh I hope you do! It‘s my favorite modern cozy series! Quirky, lighthearted, and very well-written! 11mo

Caerphilly is celebrating Halloween but their festivities are marred when a dead body is found. Can Meg and her family figure out what going on? It's a cozy mystery so, of course, they can. This is a fun series. #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter #PromptMaze E3 #Spookoween #31by31 #BodyCountBingo #LittenListen #20in4 @Clwojick @TheAromaofBooks @TheSpineView @Catsandbooks @PuddleJumper @aperfectmjk @Andrew65

For some reason, my pandemic brain will only focus for a few seemingly random things- this month Donna Andrews is one of them. She‘s so good at her cast of characters, and I am enjoying the new ones in this book! Less than halfway, so I don‘t have a prime suspect yet, but there are several I want it to be 😂

Making some progress while I try to re-acclimate Dottie to the bedroom crate with a peanut butter kong.

Mindelan Out of curiosity- any Littens who have small dogs, that have them sleep on their own in winter? She is my first Chihuahua (Boston/Chi, we think) was a pro until it got cold, and then she started crying. She‘s been sleeping in the bed, but I‘m trying to make the crate cozy and appealing again now that it is getting warmer. 3y

Still trying to kick the same cold. Too tired to move, but it is so nice today! Enjoying the fresh air and happy bulbs while I read the next Meg Langslow and the dog putters around.

No offense to any summer savor-ers out there but I am ready for Fall and Halloween. I scoped out my library and pulled some cozy Fall/Halloween themed books to get a kick start (and watch all the Ghostbusters and Halloweentown movies). Also open to any recommendations for cozy/paranormal fall/Halloween books!
