Finishing this one gives me my first Bingo on my audiobook card this month. 😁
Lydia Millet doesn't deliver anything new to the dystopian genre with this story, but I still really enjoyed it. The idea of a post apocalyptic world where young people are vaccinated and medicated by Big Phrama to keep them from noticing how bad the world is felt almost too realistic.
Fast, engaging read.
I don‘t particularly like reading multiple books at once, but here we are. Finishing up @kamoorephoto‘s #LMPBC pick (top) that will be making its way back to her SOON (I promise! I‘m sorry it‘s so delayed. 😬). The bottom one is required for work for our manager retreat next week and it‘s a little hokey and she quoted Mitch freakin‘ McConnell, so it‘s a struggle. She‘ll be doing a session for us, so I feel like I can‘t even just say I read it. Oy.
I quite liked this. It‘s a fast YA read, and seemingly/possibly not that far off once we run out of oil and such. It is told in diary form from Nat‘s point of view. She writes as if she is writing to “you”, the reader, as a space person of some sort, which I thought was a bit odd. The “you” part didn‘t bother me, but I‘m not sure where exactly space fit in. Overall, I thought it was good
Starting my last #LMPBC book for #TeamYA and @kamoorephoto included some prints of her shelter kitty models for the group and I‘m so happy I got the ginger kitty! 😻 Also, the cute cat helps to balance out the creepy cover, am I right?
Mail on its way to @TheDaysGoBy #litsypenpal,
and since I was headed to the post office anyway, I mailed May's #lmpbc book to @callielafleur
I'm keeping my review to myself as I don't want to spoil it for #lmpbc #teamYA #groupQ. Will update after everyone has read it.
@kamoorephoto @erinreads @callielafleur --oh, have you received my book yet?
Very creative and sweet @kamoorephoto Coincidentally we adopted my father in law's cat today, and you've included adorable cat photos. I will start reading ASAP.

Really enjoyed this glimpse into the future; while this is a novel, it seemed like I was reading a real journal (TMC writes it in the week leading up to her parent‘s planned death). Global warming has finally done its worst! Full review here 👉🏼 http://kamoorephoto.booklikes.com/post/1652499/a-dystopian-novel-that-really-see...
Getting through this fast and I‘m seeing a future I can easily imagine; one where there there are no pets (no kitties??!) 😿 to be had, cow farming is illegal 👍🏼, tsunamis are a regular thing 🌊, and you plan your death and create a contract for it to happen 💀 The future really looks that dismal (so they take pills) but unfortunately this book paints a very realistic picture 🙀 It‘s a warning and a reminder! It‘s also my #LMPBC pick! ✌🏼
Hi there #LMPBC #GroupQ #TeamYA! 😽
I finally have book choices for you; 2 of them I have doubles of, and they‘ve all been on my TBR for a long time. I want to read them all for different reasons, and I‘d love to hear what you think! In order of preference (top two are equal)
Pills and Starships - dystopian
Salt to the Sea - historical fiction
Our Chemical Hearts - romance, coming of age
We Were Liars - suspense (I realize some of you have read)
It was ok, I read a lot of this type of book and this one didn't really stand out. Loved the cover tho.
