#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #LittenListen @aperfectmjk

Finishing this one gives me my first Bingo on my audiobook card this month. 😁

Lydia Millet doesn't deliver anything new to the dystopian genre with this story, but I still really enjoyed it. The idea of a post apocalyptic world where young people are vaccinated and medicated by Big Phrama to keep them from noticing how bad the world is felt almost too realistic.

Fast, engaging read.

aperfectmjk Nice!!! 🤗 4y
TheAromaofBooks Some of these dystopian books don't feel as far off base as they used to!!! 4y

I don‘t particularly like reading multiple books at once, but here we are. Finishing up @kamoorephoto‘s #LMPBC pick (top) that will be making its way back to her SOON (I promise! I‘m sorry it‘s so delayed. 😬). The bottom one is required for work for our manager retreat next week and it‘s a little hokey and she quoted Mitch freakin‘ McConnell, so it‘s a struggle. She‘ll be doing a session for us, so I feel like I can‘t even just say I read it. Oy.

I quite liked this. It‘s a fast YA read, and seemingly/possibly not that far off once we run out of oil and such. It is told in diary form from Nat‘s point of view. She writes as if she is writing to “you”, the reader, as a space person of some sort, which I thought was a bit odd. The “you” part didn‘t bother me, but I‘m not sure where exactly space fit in. Overall, I thought it was good

Starting my last #LMPBC book for #TeamYA and @kamoorephoto included some prints of her shelter kitty models for the group and I‘m so happy I got the ginger kitty! 😻 Also, the cute cat helps to balance out the creepy cover, am I right?

tracey38 Very cute kitty. I used to have a ginger like that one named Charlie. Called him Charlie Brown sometimes. Such a wonderful, loving kitty. 7y
CatLass007 😻😻😻😻😻 7y
claffy_reads The cat pictures are so cute, I'm using mine as a bookmark! 7y

Really enjoyed this glimpse into the future; while this is a novel, it seemed like I was reading a real journal (TMC writes it in the week leading up to her parent‘s planned death). Global warming has finally done its worst! Full review here 👉🏼 http://kamoorephoto.booklikes.com/post/1652499/a-dystopian-novel-that-really-see...

kamoorephoto @Itchyfeetreader Well, thank you! 😽💓 7y
claffy_reads I look forward to reading this! 😁 7y
Reggie If you like this future global warming scary kinda (cause it‘s happening before our eyes) story you might like Lost Girl by Adam Nevill. It‘s the story of a dad searching for his kidnapped daughter set against global warming. 7y
kamoorephoto @Reggie I‘ll check it out! It sounds familiar... 7y

Getting through this fast and I‘m seeing a future I can easily imagine; one where there there are no pets (no kitties??!) 😿 to be had, cow farming is illegal 👍🏼, tsunamis are a regular thing 🌊, and you plan your death and create a contract for it to happen 💀 The future really looks that dismal (so they take pills) but unfortunately this book paints a very realistic picture 🙀 It‘s a warning and a reminder! It‘s also my #LMPBC pick! ✌🏼

kamoorephoto Sorry meant to post as a blurb... 7y
kamoorephoto It‘s my cat‘s quote, I guess 😽 7y

kamoorephoto @suvata It really is good...it‘s actually the most realistic dystopian book I‘ve read so far...I can see it going this way... It‘s from the perspective of the the teen daughter whose parents have taken her and her brother on their ‘Final Week‘ to Hawaii; it‘s her journal. It‘s fascinating. 7y
rubyslippersreads Life without cats—the worst dystopian future I can imagine! 🙀 7y
kamoorephoto @rubyslippersreads I know!!!! That‘s what Jeffers says!!! 7y
claffy_reads I can't wait to read this! 😁 7y

Hi there #LMPBC #GroupQ #TeamYA! 😽
I finally have book choices for you; 2 of them I have doubles of, and they‘ve all been on my TBR for a long time. I want to read them all for different reasons, and I‘d love to hear what you think! In order of preference (top two are equal)
Pills and Starships - dystopian
Salt to the Sea - historical fiction
Our Chemical Hearts - romance, coming of age
We Were Liars - suspense (I realize some of you have read)

IheartYA I'm gonna go with either Pills and Starships or Our Chemical Romance. I've read Salt to the Sea (one of my favorite authors, Out of the Easy was better). I had tried We Were Liars a while ago and couldn't get into it but told myself I would try again one day. It's on my kindle. 7y
IheartYA ...whoops, Our Chemical Hearts, not romance lol 7y
claffy_reads I've read We Were Liars, but any of the others sound good to me! 7y

erinreads I‘ve read We Were Liars and Salt to the Sea. And I‘m doing Ruta‘s Between Shades of Gray for mine. I‘m okay with either of the other two! 7y
kamoorephoto @callielafleur @erinreads @IheartYA Trying to remember all your picks so I can base mine off that now... 7y
IheartYA I chose How to Stop Time. 7y
kamoorephoto Oh yes, now I remember; @callielafleur is doing 7y
kamoorephoto Okay, @callielafleur @IheartYA @erinreads ever since I read the little recommendation card at the indie bookstore where I got ‘Pills & Starships‘, I thought it might be good for something like this... votes for that one??? Something dystopian? (edited) 7y
claffy_reads Thanks for remembering, @kamoorephoto! I was stuck in this endless loop of seeing the question, getting distracted before I could answer, and then seeing the question again. I think Pills & Starships looks great! 7y

It was ok, I read a lot of this type of book and this one didn't really stand out. Loved the cover tho.
