Hubby is gone most of today skiing. So I'm sneaking in as many pages as I can! I have a yoga class later this morning and some house cleaning to do but otherwise my plan is to read read read. No super bowl for me...I am not a football fan. 😇

We're going to see Knives Out with some friends this evening but on the way to the theater my husband wanted to stop in at the climbing gym. Which means I have an hour to dig into this one!

So, this widow ends up sharing a vacation home with a group of friends who are reuniting to relieve their college days and one of them is murdered on the first night. They all suspect each other, yet they continue to hang out and get stupid drunk and invite each other into their hotel rooms. Nope. Not buying the premise.

65% into this book and I‘m convinced that this is the stupidest group of characters I‘ve ever come across.

Book 6—I‘m not sure about the protagonist, Eden, a woman who admits that she is too passive & ashamed of crippling fear of the dark. It was hard to listen to the other characters bully & blame her for things that are clearly not her fault. I did like how Eden‘s own story is revealed, layer by layer, explaining her compulsions and self-hate. It‘s a decent mystery; I think fans of British murder mysteries will enjoy this in spite of its faults.

I read 'The Day I Died' earlier in the month and thought it was boring so thought I would try another from her because you can't judge an author on one book alone.
I thought this was really good. The story was much more interesting and kept me engaged. Had a good ending aswell.

This is a perfectly respectable murder mystery and an enjoyable read. However, it is the type of story that 6 months from now I will not remember a character's name or anything but the fuzziest plot details. Nothing wrong with that but I prefer a little more sizzle.

I just couldn‘t get into this one as much as her previous novels, and I really did love her others!!

So I have been sick lately and unable to read much at all, but this novel still seems to be going more slowly than all of Rader-Day‘s previous ones. Am I the only one who thinks this?

So good so far. I feel like it‘s building slowly to some major explosions...

I‘ve loved each of Lori‘s novels so I‘m excited to read her newest. 💜

Went to an author event this evening. Lori Radner-Day & Roger Johns. Had a great time!

After celebrating a wedding with fellow Ball State alums and coming back to Chicago I decided it was appropriate to listen to another BSU alum in Chicago at work. Chirp Chirp!

I‘ll admit she knows how to craft a layered mystery that keeps you furiously turning pages, but the insane presumptuousness of the protagonist bugged me. She‘s a suspect in a murder and she‘s snooping around crime scenes, through other suspects‘ things, and even stealing potential evidence! No wonder everyone thinks she‘s the killer.

I‘ll still recommend it for the suspense. I appreciate the nod to the classic Christie mystery.

I‘m *loving* this book. And the foggy midwestern weather over here helps! (bonus: see the ghost of my puppy in the window?)

Rader-Day pens some interesting characters in an Agatha Christie type story. Eden is a flawed character dealing with a traumatic event that has left her damaged and fragile. Her complexity and fear, coupled with grief and vulnerability make her the perfect unreliable narrator. The story unfolds and exposes secrets and lies about all of the characters—none of them are who they appear to be.
