Funland | Richard Laymon
7 posts | 6 read | 8 to read
The Funland Amusement Park provides more fear than fun these days. A vicious pack known as the Trolls are preying on anyone foolish enough to be alone at night. Folks in the area blame them for the recent mysterious disappearances, and a gang of local teenagers has decided to fight back. But nothing is ever what it seems in an amusement park. Behind the garish paint and bright lights waits a horror far worse than anything found in the freak show. Step right up. The terror is about to begin!

Pickpick

This book is typical Laymon with horny boys who will do anything to have sex. I picked this book because of the setting, a beachfront carnival on a boardwalk. I will read anything set at a carnival or circus. A group of local teens are sick of the homeless and want to do something about it. Unfortunately their vigilantism goes to far. But wait, there is a large group of homeless that are doing some truly terrible things. So both sides are bad.

KathyWheeler I started reading this book but got distracted by other books. I‘ll have to go back to it. 5y
Reggie Layman is so crazy, and his endings..... lol. 5y

Ordered this through Abe Books. It was listed in Very Good condition. It arrived like this and is grossing me out.

cobwebmoth Ugh. I would not call that "very good". 5y
merelybookish 😨😡 5y
TheSpineView No way can that be called “very good“. I think I would have chosen “poor“ or “fair“. Just saying.... 5y

DivineDiana That is an incorrect labeling of condition! Can you report your dissatisfaction? 5y
laurieluna I have had this issue with abe books on several occasions. I have now stopped using them. How can we have a successful second hand book market when they di this and turn people off? The final straw for me was a copy of Good Omens, listed as very good condition, that was riddled with black mould. 5y
Tamra 😑 Maybe try contacting? 5y
TheLudicReader It‘s not really Abe though, is it? They just act as sort of a clearinghouse. I‘ve always had really good luck with them, but I would definitely report it so they can take it up with the seller. 5y
LeahBergen Contact the bookseller directly (the email will be under the orders section of your account on the website) and complain (with photos). If they don‘t refund your money, take it up with Abebooks. It‘s worked for me before. 5y
RainyDayReading I run into this same thing a lot with ThriftBooks. Just got a book I ordered in Like New condition and the spine is cracked to hell and some of the pages have tears in them 😪 5y
CoverToCoverGirl That‘s terrible! Definitely approach the seller first then take it up with ABE. My shop orders in books for readers - we sell though ABE and purchase through them also - I‘ve received books not as described (a rare occurrence), emailed the shipper and it‘s always been handled in a timely fashion with either a refund or a replacement book! Hopefully you‘re dealing with someone reputable and this was just human error. Good luck. 5y

This was my first Laymon. I was really looking forward to liking this but there was just something about it that didn't sit right with me. I think it was that the relationships between the characters felt too fast and too forced. That said, Laymon's writing style is one I did enjoy. The book didn't drag that much and I was interested throughout the story. I will definitely be reading more of him!

Got this book as a gift from my Bf @trioxin_sematary 😚 xoxox ! Richard Laymon has been on my list of horror authors to read and i was thrilled when he sent this!

A novel of teror and evil, as a small seaside town is taken over by an army of leering foul-smelling down and outs. A gang of local youths seek to wreak their own violent revenge on the murderous parasites.

a perfect summer horror! Sounds great!!

Reggie I‘ve only read 2 Laymon, The Island and The Traveling Vampire Circus, and both are great but the ends go crazy off the rails. 6y

#TBRtemptation post 5! This is a special edition from Dark Regions Press with a very limited run, with special author notes, illustrations, and a new introduction and afterword. Arcades, rides, live music. Enjoy it all...but keep your eyes peeled for the trolls. And stay away from the boardwalk at night. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😊
