“Pecan Pie Baby' by Jacqueline Woodson tells a sweet story of a young girl who is anxious and a little angry over the arrival of her new baby sibling. This book could be great when discussing what it may be or feel like when a new sibling arrives. It is important to discuss and validate students' feelings over a big change, but also to reassure them that a new sibling arriving is an amazing and exciting time, as they get to become a big sibling!

This picture book tells the story of a young girl feeling anxious over the arrival of her new baby sibling. She feels alone and worries that she and her mother will no longer have their time after the baby comes. The illustrations in this book do an amazing job at representing her feelings of anxious and loneliness with the element of perspective. For example, she is far up in the corner of the book while they are building the baby's crib.

This story would be great for a child who is going to have a younger sibling. The daughter is upset that the mother is expecting, and she wishes the baby was never going to be in the family. She struggles with accepting that she will not be the only child anymore but the mother assures her that it will be okay and that she will still love her just as much.

Those were the good old days, I said. Mama smiled. Guess you‘re going to have to tell the baby all about it. I nodded “I guess I am.”

Newberry Award recipient, Pecan Pie Baby fictional story offers insight to what it‘s like to welcome a new sibling to the family. The emotions experienced by the main character, Gia are relatable and can help other children who might be facing this same challenge at home.

This book won the Newberry award and was published in 2010. I thought this book was really cute but it would be a hard lesson to work around for children cuz some may not understand.

This book was published in 2010 and got the Newbery Honor. This was a great book about a child‘s concern about getting a new baby sibling and not wanting change to occur. It shows an amazing relationship between mother and daughter and a shared bond over pie.

I really liked the illustrations of the book they were very good. I liked this story because a lot of children are nervous about having a new brother or sister.

I think this book is a good book to read to young students. I really enjoyed this book. I think reading this book to young students is a good idea because a lot of kids are getting younger brothers and sisters and they do not know how to feel.

Jacqueline Woodson does it again by writing a beautiful story in the point of view of a little girl and her not so great feelings about the baby that is on the way.

Pecan Pie Baby by Jacqueline Woodson was awarded the Newbery Honor. Pecan Pie Baby tells the story from a little girls point of view of her mother being pregnant. Throughout the story the little girl is sick and tired of hearing about the baby and wants things to stay as they are, but towards the end of the story the little girl and her mother make ends meet with the new baby over some pecan pie.

Because she knew, just like I did, how much the three of us loved ourselves some pecan pie.

This is the perfect book for a younger child getting a new sibling. It takes you through all the emotions the child is feeling about getting a new siblings. The scary, the mad, the sad. I too felt this way and wish I had this book when I was younger.

The new wry honor book, Pecan pie baby was published in 2010. This book made me smile all throughout while reading you could really feel the little girls emotions and understand where she was coming from. You felt for her and was rooting for her the whole story to understand the concept of getting a new sibling.

I kept thinking about how I felt when I found out my baby sister was going to be born, I was so excited to have a best friend who was always going to be with me.

This book was published in 2010 and has won the National Book Award. It is a great book for little readers who are upset about having another baby and a growing family. It teaches that although there is another addition to the family, they are loved the same. I really loved reading this and looking through the illustrations as well!

I loved this book! I think this would be an amazing book to read to young students who might be expecting or have younger siblings and are unsure how they feel about it. I think it‘s healthy to have those feelings, and to help young kids process those feelings with a nice book and some pecan pie!

The book Pecan Pie Baby, winner of Newbery Honor, is an incredible book. The book follows a little girl who is jealous she is about to have a new little brother or sister. When the little girl finally has enough and lashes out, her mom tells her she‘ll miss the times it was just the two of them too, but have great a new addition will be. The little girl agrees and they enjoy some pecan pie.
