In trying to find a morning routine I discovered these two books for #profdev / #personaldevelopment and wonder which to start with. I found the infographics on https://readingraphics.com/5am-club-vs-miracle-morning/ and though they helped to show a basic version of this, though more insight can be found in the books. Anyone read these? I also like the concept of reading 10 pages a day min of nonfiction/personal growth books. Still reflecting…

Desha I‘ve heard good things about the 5 am Club…now I‘ll have to look into Miracle Morning! 2y

Not a morning person? I wasn‘t either. This is a simple read that helped inspire me to discover all that early mornings have to offer. If you‘re on the fence about reading it, try not to sleep on it too long. :)

#bfcr4 @Emilymdxn @jessinikkip @LauraJ @suzie.reads @wanderinglynn weekly check in: I meditated 6/7 days, I worked out 2x. I finished A Discovery of Witches and have a few books started. Where I had some issues was with my sugar intake, the week was rough and definitely ate more sweets than I would ideally want. I also know I have to define this goal better, not sure what that looks like yet. Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Emilymdxn I think you‘re doing great! I like to keep my goals slightly woolly lol, I get so busy and when I‘m sick or anxious I like to keep it broad so I can count making small efforts and bearing things in mind when it‘s all I can manage 5y
suzie.reads You're doing great! Keep doing what you're doing and don't worry about it 😊 5y
LauraJ You‘re off to a great start! Sugar is a tough one - especially around Halloween. It takes awhile to condition our brains not to crave sugar and we have a finite amount of willpower. Hopefully each week will get a little easier. 5y
wanderinglynn Great week! 🙌🏻 Sometimes it takes some tweaking before a goal works for you. And sometimes we have a week. That‘s why BFC goals are adaptable. 😉 5y
jessinikkip Excellent job this week! One reason I love BFC is you can keep updating those goals to find what works. It might be hard to limit sugar during this candy season, but you can do it! 5y

A quick read with an effective method for starting your days. This focuses on waking up with the intention of taking care of yourself from the moment you open your eyes, thus having more room for productivity as the day goes on.

I like the layout for the morning routine, however most of the book is just marketing. The passion planner I feel like does a better job of envisioning a ‘Level 10 Life‘. I will be incorporating the morning habits into my day, but over all I don‘t feel like reading this was time optimally spent.

I just finished this book on audio and think it's perfect for today's #peace post for #MayBookFlowers!
I picked this picture because it summarizes the basic idea of the morning routine Hal Elrod suggests will change your life, giving you peace.
I read all the reviews, negative and positive, and agree with some of each. However, I believe in his main points very strongly and think it's worth a shot to try out his methods.
Meditating/exercising=👍

tournevis Interesting. Someone in my sketchnoting group was talking about just that this pm during our webinar. 8y
Blueberry Is that a bullet journal? I love mine. 8y
ItsAnotherJen I think that you could go to the website and get the basics to his plan without reading the book. He wants you to dedicate 60 min ea morning to the SAVERS routine and see how it affects the rest of your day. 10 minutes for each. Silence=meditation. Affirmations. Visualize=plan. Exercise. Read (inspiring or self-help books is encouraged) Scribe- write in a journal. I think its a great plan to commit to for 30 days!! 8y
Lmstraubie This looks very interesting. Stacking it! 8y
thegirlwiththebookishcandle I've read the book and everything he says makes sense, but he does get up crazy early and i can't do that. I'm still doing some of the savers though 😃 8y

I was prepared to not like this, because the writing style and presentation could use some improvement. Lots of typos and grammatical errors. But I found this really inspiring! It helped me create a new morning routine and start my days on a positive, productive note, which I have been wanting to do for a long time. And I have never been a morning person! If you're feeling stuck and not making progress toward your goals, I recommend it. 💯

So if he knows he isn't a good writer, why didn't he hire a better editor? I'm still in the introduction and I've already encountered 2 typos, 2 punctuation errors, and a dangling modifier. 🙄 I don't know that I would have bought this if I had seen the comments about how poor the presentation is. I hear there are massive blocks of italics coming up also. Ugh.

Seeing mixed things about this. If the tone is as cloying and preachy as everyone is saying, then we're gonna have a problem. 😆 But I've been working on changing my morning routine since I started working from home a few months ago, so gonna give this a shot!

jessdean I listened to this on audio & it was pretty annoying, felt like he kept promoting all his stuff. I fast forwarded a lot. But I do like his basic routine for morning. I did it for awhile & quit. But I've been thinking about starting back up. I just adjusted it to whatever worked best for me. 8y
Karen.reads @jessdean audio may have been the better choice. So many typos. 😱 8y
jessdean I don't think so😬 it was kinda painful. I had to skip to just hear how he lays out his plan. Good luck! 8y

Hal thinks anyone can just will themselves to only need 4 or 5 hours of sleep. I agree I can will myself to be energetic, but I'll still have eye bags and an upset liver and neck.

The idea of meditating, visualizing, journaling, exercising, reading, and reciting affirmations at the beginning of the day is fantastic and everyone should aspire to do, but the book reads like an infomercial. 💩

Mind over matter, but not at the expense of sleep!

geodynamical_nonfiction So many WAY BETTER self improvement books out there. My fave is ... 8y

If you've heard about the Miracle Morning and are curious as to its origin... if you're looking for a way to reboot or revamp your morning routine, then this might be the book for you. I approached this purely with a curiosity to learn more about the method, but found the "motivational life coach" tone (it IS a self-help book) and the repetitive nature of some of the passages slightly off-putting at times. Commendable principle and idea, tho!

geodynamical_nonfiction Glad we agree 8y

Finding that taking notes while reading this is allowing me to focus less on the tone, delivery, and writing style of the book and more on the ideas and principles of the method. Helps to approach it from a neutral, information-seeking angle.

Started this weeks ago & can't even bring myself to finish. Love the IDEA of the miracle morning. & I totally stand behind the PRINCIPLE of it. But the writing.. the delivery of this message? Just doesn't do it for me. Reads like an infomercial & has long paragraphs in italics which hurt my eyes 😁

The font in this book is just driving me INSANE 😬 I don't know why, maybe it's just me, but I feel like this is more difficult to read.

DitrieMarieBowie You're not wrong. Excessive use of italics is really difficult on the eyes. Authors and graphic designers are warned against it. 9y
