I really was into this movie, years ago. I've never read the 3 act play. Short read for a late rainy night🌧🌛🐾
Last night we went to see my son in his school's production of The Miracle Worker. He plays James, Helen Keller's brother. They did a great job! And my son was almost unrecognizable in a fitted suit and flat-ironed hair. (The director joked that he is channeling Brad Pitt in Interview with a Vampire.)
He is very shy but loves acting, so it's fascinating to see him transformed on stage.

pickI love that plays can put so much meaning and heart into such a small framework! I read this in one sitting, absolutely enthralled at what was taking place before me in a short three acts. There is so much in Annie and Helen‘s story to take with you: perseverance, love, the ways we serve each other, letting go, etc. I‘ve heard the story of Helen Keller throughout my life, but to experience the play through Annie‘s perspective was so refreshing.
For anyone who saw my earlier post about my wrapped TBRs, here‘s the mystery revealed! This should be a nice #quickread. 😁
My daughter Ashleigh (w/bangs) has been bitten by the theatre bug. One wonderful thing about this is her exposure to many books & plays that she wouldn't have otherwise read. She & her dear friend Leah (who played Helen) were two of only three 6th graders in their school's recent run of "The Miracle Worker" (a combined middle/high school). The inset photo is from the famous "wrestling with scissors" scene. Thanks for allowing me a mom brag!

Helen Keller and her teacher Annie Sullivan. A story that is inspiring with two #unforgettablewomen. I loved this book when I read it as a teen.
"James: And Jacob was left alone, and wrestled with an angel until the breaking of the day; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him; and the angel said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And Jacob said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. Amen." ?✋?
