I really enjoyed this fast-paced duology. This book has a little bit of everything: escape from a cult, a pandemic, fugitive from the law and throw in a little romance.

After reading the synopsis for this I wondered if the author could pull off something like this...combining a cult element and an actual viral pandemic of apocalyptic proportions...and I believe she did. It was such an intense ride, one where as soon as I finished it, I had to get the second book and listen to it next.

Um... This book is good and the similarities between the concerns of the characters and the current state of the world is unsettling. Pandemic, cyber attacks, power outages for weeks... There are a few situations where the likelihood of events unfolding as perfectly as they do is a little unbelievable but I didn't think it negatively impacted the overall storyline. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ And I would definitely recommend.

Wow, a lot going on in this book. Cults, pandemic, saving human kind, underground silos. A bit much, but entertaining none the less. I got this and the sequel at the library, so I will read the other book too (eventually).

Dystopian fiction about a pandemic. It was a roller coaster ride. Lee was kind enough to provide her susceptible population with PPE so maybe she should work in government. One bit of dialogue should have been cut but otherwise very good. Supposed to be made into a show soon.

This book was super scary especially because it is so relevant right now with a current issue of a virus outbreak in our world. It really blended different themes together very well with the parallel story of a cult and the horrors of religious cult beliefs along with a sickness outbreak in the world. A little unbelievable in parts, but overall, I really found this interesting and scary.

New read! So fast-paced. Dropped right into the action.

This is a strong entry for the “young innocent woman tries to save the world” genre. It‘s a cult escapee, pandemic, dangerous emergency road trip book with a likable heroine. More and more the topic feels relevant. I definitely had to suspend some disbelief though. Still, it was a compelling and harrowing story.

New audiobook in my ears. I‘m giving Chirp a try, so this was super cheap a few weeks ago. Plus, it combines two of my favorite story lines—pandemics and cult escapees. Plus Cassandra Campbell narrating. I HAD to get it. Hopefully it lives up to the blurb and reviews!

Fantastic!! Loved this story and characters so much. A bit on the freaky side in the aspect that this could very well become a real end-of-the-world scenario but that is what drew me in as well. Also loved that it takes place in IA so I know many of the towns memtioned!

I was lucky enough to get the whole promo package with Tosca Lee‘s great new novel. While the book falls squarely in the post-apoc/prepper sub-genre the great characters, family issues and moral issues make it so much more than that. The pacing is great and plot very good. I really enjoyed this read and hope it will find the wide audience it deserves. Bringing a female/literary voice to this sub genre is a big step forward.

I loved how this story blended an apocalyptic thriller with one woman‘s expulsion from a doomsday cult. It was her time in the cult that made everything she did with getting the medical samples to Colorado believable. Also, even though there was a focus on an outbreak there was not a major focus on the science behind the outbreak. This story was fascinating & a page turner. Magnus taught his followers that the world was coming to an end. Could this be true?
