Morning read! Le Tartuffe by Molière. My French book club meets tomorrow, and as the organizer, of course I need to take notes ;)
First time reading this play, but I've seen it played (ages ago).

Here‘s a link to a great critique of Molière and his (at the time) scandalous play “Tartuffe”. Centuries ago the famous Molière pushed the French leaders of society and Church with satire much like Shakespeare did in England. Great quote #famousquotes
Happy 4th to Americans ??

I read the adaptation by John Donnelly, which was set in London and had up-to-date references. Found it very funny! Good use of stereotypical comedic characters and plot lines. I haven‘t read any of Molière‘s other works, but I‘ll try to because I quite enjoyed reading Tartuffe.
8.5/10

“Life is a tragedy to those who feel, and a comedy to those who think”- Molière
Just started tech week!! Coffee is getting me through, as well as some kitty cuddling.
While I have to give Shakespeare the number 1 spot, Molière is a close second! The language is amazing, but even more so is the understanding of human nature. Read it in translation if you must, but read it.
A little Molière before I start my day. Dorine is marvelous!
#AprilTBR The top three and bottom left are current reads, and I think I‘ll get to the other two. Unless I decide to read something else. 😀 #readingResolutions @Jess7
2018 started off with explosions at work which used all my spare brain power, so I‘m just now getting to my goal of reading more in French. ? Starting this morning with a bubble bath, coffee and Molière.
I enjoyed Tartuffe! I thought it was funny and the concept was brilliant!
Orgon, the head of the household, has become obsessed with religious fraud Tartuffe and everyone in the family can see he‘s a sham apart from Orgon, this ensues hilarity as the household tries to show has what an imposter Tartuffe is!
I bet it‘s even funnier on stage where the false poetry of Tartuffe can be really hammed-up!
1.) These are some of the costumes we‘re making for Tartuffe at work and the proportion and scale of them just makes me giggle.
2.) Pictionary!
3.) Nope. It‘s not a goal of mine but I am not anti-helicopter.
4.) Not particularly but it doesn‘t taste like soap to me either.
5.) Twitter, for sure. It‘s like a coffeehouse at the best of times, & careful application of mute/block is the key to keeping it cool.

Wow, I need to organize my book cases more often, found these beautiful treasures among the piles, which I had totally forgotten about!
@JulietteGF I need to start practicing my French! 😊

Repost for anyone interested in doing some French language buddy reads in 2018. @Lcsmcat is taking suggestions for the buddy reads now so check out her feed and #FrenchLittens if you want in on the fun! I am just starting to learn French so I‘ll be reading mostly in translation, so don‘t be scared if you are also a French language newbie.
Hey #frenchlittens, anyone interested in joining French language buddy reads please nominate books you want to read in 2018. Once we have a list of potential reads I‘ll post them for a final vote. @CouronneDhiver @tournevis @mklong @julesG @writerlibrarian Share this post and/or tag people who might be interested. Thanks!

Or should I say Qui veut être inclus? I‘m going to try to read more in French in 2018. I‘d love to do buddy reads on some, especially with others for whom French is a second language. Anyone want to join me for #Litsyenfrancais? #FrenchLittens? (Any ideas for a better hashtag? I had to remove the cedilla in français to make it a hashtag.)
This weekend we opened a stage reading of this hilarious show! So glad that I opted to not read it before hand. It has been fun but I am kinda sad that more people are not coming out for this.
This was my first Molière play and I really enjoyed it. It was a little difficult to follow as an audiobook at a few points, but overall enjoyable.

Beauty without intelligence is like a hook without bait.
Having never read this play in school, I was glad for the opportunity to use the Serial Reader app to break it down into short daily "bites." The statement the play makes on religious hypocrisy and greed is universal and timeless.
Trying the Serial Reader app on the advice of @bookriot - also using it to read my play for the Read Harder Challenge! So far, I quite like it.
