Catching some time with Maeve before my next class of the morning! 😊
Catching some time with Maeve before my next class of the morning! 😊
I need some Maeve and Josh... so I‘m going to read while my man takes his nap. 😁📖💕
Another great read in the Maeve Kerrigan Series, Jane Casey really writes some excellent plot lines & writes great character development lines. Who thought a whole book talking about what happened before & during a fire would be so captivating. This was difficult to put down, & even when the main story was resolved, there was some great excitement in the issue that was impacting on Maeve‘s personal life. Given the ending looking forward to book 7!
Finally, finally got to start After the Fire, book 6 in the Maeve Kerrigan Series.
@EadieB and @Tove_Reads Reading book 6 at the moment and hope to get to book 7, Let The Dead Speak, next week.
Apologies for being absent from Litsy a lot of the last week or 2 - life has consumed me (personally and professionally) over that time but hoping to bounce back
In an effort to get my #seriesreads under control a little, and because I‘ve been rather immobile over the past 2 weeks, I have been binging Jane Casey‘s Maeve Kerrigan series. Love my badass British (or in Maeve‘s case, Irish) detective ladies. 👍🏼
MP Armstrong was murdered before the fire broke out. Was his death connected to the fire? To the other deaths at Murchison House? And what was he doing there in the first place? Maeve is a character that comes to life and you feel you know her personally. I missed Rob in this book but I loved Derwent and the interaction between him and Maeve. I look forward to Casey‘s future books. If you like police procedurals, you will enjoy this series.
Kerrigan & Derwent investigate deaths following a suspicious fire in a tower block. Among the dead, right wing MP Geoff Armstrong - was he the target or collateral?
Plot was fairly interesting, but the main characters are not showing much sign of development. Derwent veers between caring friend & caricature sexist & his relationship with Maeve is strange. Also his tendency to hone in on a woman involved in his cases seems predatory to me. 3⭐️
Best of the series so far 😀 One of the best finds I've had buying number 7 in the series and having to get 1-6 to read first. This was number 6 and I loved it.
A great detective series - with a great female MC, great plot lines and personal story!

Next one in the Maeve Kerrigan series. Another great detective series.
Casey wrote another page turner. The story actually had 2 plotlines working alongside each other and although the ending tied it all up pretty quickly, the journey there was a good one.
I love Jane Casey's Maeve Kerrigan series so I hope this one is as good as the others!!!
Love this series. Caught up with the last three this weekend. Couldn't stop jumping from one book to the next. Good mysteries, good character development. When's the next one out??
