Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons
Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons | Lorna Landvik
10 posts | 30 read | 20 to read
From her sensational sleeper hit Patty Janes House of Curl to her heartwarming novel Welcome to the Great Mysterious, Lorna Landvik has won the hearts of readers everywhere by skillfully balancing hilarity with pathos, and bittersweet insights with heartwarming truths. Now she returns to her beloved, eccentric stomping ground of small-town Minnesota where the most eclectic, and engaging group of women youll ever meet share love, loss, and laughter. Sometimes life is like a bad waiterit serves you exactly what you dont want. The women of Freesia Court have come together at lifes table, fully convinced that there is nothing good coffee, delectable desserts, and a strong shoulder cant fix. Laughter is the glue that holds them togetherthe foundation of a book group they call AWEBAngry Wives Eating Bon Bonsan unofficial club that becomes much more. It becomes a lifeline. The five women each have a story of their own to tell. Theres Faith, the newcomer, a lonely housewife and mother of twins, a woman who harbors a terrible secret that has condemned her to living a lie; big, beautiful Audrey, the resident sex queen who knows that good posture and an attitude can let you get away with anything; Merit, the shy, quiet doctors wife with the face of an angel and the private hell of an abusive husband; Kari, a thoughtful, wise woman with a wonderful laugh as deep as Santa Clauss with a cold who knows the greatest gifts appear after lifes fiercest storms; and finally, Slip, activist, adventurer, social changer, a tiny, spitfire of a woman who looks trouble straight in the eye and challenges it to arm wrestle. Holding on through forty eventful yearsthrough the swinging Sixties, the turbulent Seventies, the anything-goes Eighties, the nothings-impossible Ninetiesthe women will take the plunge into the chaos that inevitably comes to those with the temerity to be alive and kicking. Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons depicts a special slice of American life, of stay-at-home days and new careers, children and grandchildren, bold beginnings and second chances, in which the power of forgiveness, understanding, and the perfectly timed giggle fit is the CPR that mends broken hearts and shattered dreams. Once again Lorna Landvik leaves you laughing and crying, as she reveals perhaps the greatest truth: that there is nothing like the saving grace of best friends. From the Hardcover edition.

1. We talked about our books we always give to others and hers was the tagged book. I love the relationships between the women.
2. I'm grateful for my family, friends, and my job.

Donna, I am so very excited and appreciative of this most thoughtful gift!!! I am now the thrilled owner of a signed copy of Angry Housewives Eating Bonbons, one of my favorite ever books! I can‘t wait to read Can‘t We Talk About Something More Pleasant? too. My library doesn‘t have this, so I was planning to put in a request for interlibrary loan, but now I don‘t have to! Thanks so much for this lovely birthday surprise! 🥰🤗💛

robinb So sweet! 💛 6y

Naff front cover but awesome title! I enjoyed this one. It's about 4 mums living on the same street in the 1960s and they form a bookclub. The first half is so good but then it starts rushing thro the decades and focuses on too many periphery characters at times but it's a good read. 4/5

Jess_Read_This I'm loving the spines on the Oscar Wilde and Dorothy Parker books next to it! 💕📚💕 Are they Folio editions? (edited) 8y
Caroline2 Thanks! Yes! That's my folio society shelf I've been gradually building! 😍 8y
Jess_Read_This @Caroline2 Gorgeous!! I know two books that are going on my birthday present wish list now thanks to you! 💕📚💕 8y

This title alone cracks me up! It's the name of a monthly book club hosted by a handful of hilarious suburban housewives who live on the same cul-de-sac but never met before. As they get to know each other and open up about their crazy lives, loves and favorite reads, the fun and friendships begin. Each character is a hoot and each chapter reveals a new book selection. #augustphotochallenge @TheSpinecrackersBookClub

I'm back home after a three week vacation. I haven't been able to post anything on here while I've been away but I've been reading a lot of fun vacation type books! 14 to be exact. Back to the grind tomorrow, but at least with consistent wi-fi I'll have a lot more Litsy time!

Jenshootsweddings I vaguely remember my friend reading that book ... Was it good? 8y

Bad title. In general, however, I enjoyed following the story of these women.
