The Grimm Legacy
The Grimm Legacy | Polly Shulman
Elizabeth has just started working as a page at the New York Circulating Material Repository - a lending library of objects, contemporary and historical, common and obscure. And secret, too - for in the repository's basement lies the Grimm Collection, a room of magical items straight from the Grimm Brother's fairy tales. But the magic mirrors and seven-league boots and other items are starting to disappear. And before she knows it, she and her fellow pages - handsome Marc, perfect Anjali, and brooding Aaron - are suddenly caught up in an exciting, and dangerous, magical adventure.

Elizabeth can‘t seem to find a friend in her new high school. But thanks to her after school job Elizabeth meets her school‘s top athlete and other pages at the repository. Are some objects magical? Do fairytales come true? I enjoyed this for the most part but it is a low pick. Elizabeth was kind of annoying. The teens also break the rules without consequences - for example: borrowing magic boots without following proper procedures.

An OK read, not much special. I guessed who the bad guy was on page 75 or so. But it wasnt bad either so I stuck with it. Plus it covers FOUR bingo squares

This was a fun read but it was pretty predictable. I liked how the fairytale world was woven into the real one, but it really pushed that true love angle which I don't dig. The YA romance of it all had me gritting my teeth, but I could look past it enough to still enjoy the overall story. Good listen for a reading slump.

scripturient-ink The cover looks stunning though, wow! 5y
ShyBookOwl @scripturient-ink yeah, super eye-catching! 5y

Halfway through and really enjoying this random find on Libby! YA: a teenager takes a job at a strange library and learns all about the grimm collection. That is, magical objects from fairytales that, as it turns out, are real.

Elizabeth‘s life isn‘t really awesome lately, after her mother passed away, she couldn‘t attend the school she wanted or keep her ballet lessons (her step-sisters college fees) and to make things worse, her best friend moved to California.
When she got her after-school job in the New York Circulating Material repository, she was expecting books, but, this was no ordinary library. The place was huge, with its stacks.

I was so in love with this book from the beginning. The dialogue is entertaining and I appreciated the character development. Many times I expected different characters to be the villan but the book didn't end at all how I thought it would.
Cute and relatable. I am definitely looking forward to picking up more of Polly Shulman's books!

I feel super terrible about the fact that I did not like this book. It is my 8yo's current fave, and she was so excited for me to read it. Oh man. I don't want to go on and on about what I didn't care for in the book because I just feel too guilty bagging on something my kid adores. So I'll just leave it at this: It wasn't for me.

8yo has been bugging me to read this book forever. I made a deal with her that if she would read the book that was my favorite when I was her age, I would read her book. So she read Ozma of Oz, and now she is obsessed with Ozma and wants to be Ozma for Halloween! So I guess this is now my lunch time reading...
