The Pigeon Finds a Hotdog is an MF written by Mo Willems. Chris is obsessed with pigeons (he painted this beautiful picture of one) so I took the opportunity to read him this. It's about a pigeon who finds a hotdog and wants nothing more than to enjoy it. However, a curious little birdy keeps asking him questions because he's never tried one for himself. The pigeon doesn't want to give it to him so they decide to share it.#UCFLAE3414SP20

Agavitt1 RA and IR would work great for this book and also AS since Mo Willems has written numerous stories about this pigeon. https://www.rif.org/literacy-central/book/pigeon-finds-hot-dog This source lists a lot of different activities to do with this book including word searches, crossword puzzles, and memory match games (with online versions as well as printable) which can be a lot of fun for younger students. (edited) 5y
Agavitt1 UDL Principle 4.2 Optimize access to tools and assistive technologies: Offering online sources to students to participate in these activities is a great use of technology. ESOL Strategy 29. Offer a variety of reference materials at the students‘ instructional level for independent use. Again, providing students with instructional resources can be very beneficial. 5y
Zelymarie.R Great job with the art! Tell Chris to paint more for your classroom. 5y

Tabitha_H This is so cute! I love the fact that you added a art concept to go along with the book. Art can be a fun way to provide additional activities for ESOL students. 5y

Picture book. Another wonderful Mo Willems story for a classroom or for any young child. On my experience, kids love Mo Willems‘ stories and the Pigeon stories are among the favorites. They‘re fun and silly and very visual. And because of the conversation style, it‘s easy to read them in a fun way out loud to an individual or group and make voices and personalities for the characters.

The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog! by Mo Willems, 2004. This is another silly and fun Mo Willems story. This pigeon book tells about how pigeon explains a Hot Dog to a friend and tries not to get tricked out of eating his own Hot Dog. It is silly and told in a conversation making the illustrations incredibly important. The whole story rides on the pictures in a wonderful way and makes the story genuinely fun to read.

The F book titled “The Pigeon Finds A Hotdog” is a Golden Archer Award Winner and would be an awesome book for a RA. This book is about a pigeon who finds a hotdog, but along comes a curious bird who seems to have a whole lot of questions pertaining to the pigeons hotdog. This particular book would go great with ESOL strategy 4 as the teacher can link the lesson topic to students‘ prior knowledge by introducing the vocabulary word “curious”.

ATejada The teacher can then point out everytime the bird asks a question. This can also go along with UDL 2.5 Illustrate through multiple media if the teacher uses this video https://youtu.be/hRTxoWeqm2s to read aloud to the children. It will keep them engaged as it is animated! #UCFLAE3414SuB18 6y

I love the pigeon series, but out of all of them The Pigeon Finds A Hotdog is my favorite. It is an awesome story and life lesson for students. This book like others in its series follows the pigeon and the different adventures that he goes through. This book would be a great storytelling piece for students. #ucflae3414f17

dakotap I would use EDL 1.3, offer alternatives for visual information, by creating a storytelling presentation for the students. I would also use ELL 17, provide contextual support through audiovisuals, models, demonstrations, body language and facial expressions. This would help with storytelling and allowing students to understand the story in a different way. 7y
dakotap This link will take you to a website that gives you lesson plans for this book: https://betterlesson.com/lesson/584522/pigeon-finds-a-hot-dog-let-s-infer-what-h... 7y

The Pigeon is back in another hilarious F book by Mo Willems. This time, the Pigeon finds a hot dog and is very excited to eat it until a little duckling comes along. The Pigeon tries everything to keep the hot dog out of the hands of the duckling. At the end, the Pigeon and duckling come up with a solution to make everyone happy. #ucflae3414f17

KayleeC https://westonwoods.scholastic.com/products/westonwoods/study_guides/Pigeon-Find... This book could support ESOL strategy 13, use preview/review activities and UDL principle 1.2 offer alternatives for auditory information. (edited) 7y
jasminep This seems like such a cute book, thanks for giving me another idea to add to my classroom library! 7y
AlexaDP This pigeon has quickly become one of my favorite book characters this semester! I think it would be great to teach, because the title character is super amusing and will keep the students engaged! 7y
SarahWynne Can‘t wait to read this one. The pigeon books are too cute with just the right amount of humor. I like that you added UDL principle 1.2. I definitely think that‘s a great strategy! 7y

Mo Willems has created a wonderfully sassy and hysterical character, the Pigeon. In this F book, the Pigeon finds a hot dog and finds himself sharing (unwillingly) with the Duckling. Great book to read to younger kids who are learning to share. The Pigeon has his very own app, too! http://m.pigeonpresents.com/pigeonpresents/apps #ucflae3414su17

DrSpalding Buy the plush and books at Kohls! Students love Mo Willems books and hilarious characters! 7y

I had to read a book from my childhood yesterday, and this book was adorable! If you have or know any kids ages 2-5 I'd recommend you read this book aloud to them. I've volunteered at classes and read this and all the kids loved it!

In this comedic picture book, the pigeon finds a hotdog and is so excited to eat it. Just then a duck comes along to try to snag a bite. How will this hotdog face off end up? http://www.mowillems.com #ucflae3414sp17

LaurenM19 This seems likes an amazing book! I will definitely have to pick up this book and read it! 8y
DrSpalding The pigeon has his own Twitter account. Students enjoy these books. On the author's website, they can learn how to draw just like Mo Willems. 8y

For #FunFridayPhoto , it's a book with an animal on the cover. I had other adult titles in mind, then realized this was better. I adore the Pigeon books. Not least because my Pigeon and Duckling voices are second to none. Read these, whether you have kids or not, dammit

SusanInTiburon Hahahaha! It's important to do a good voice once in a while. I have the Little Lump of Coal cornered; my adult children insist on it at Christmastime. 8y

It's a little understood fact that "Frankfurter" just refers to its inventor, Dr. Frankenfurter.

The proper way to refer to a hot dog is as "Frankfurter's Monster."
