This non traditional fairytale was so traditional that for a second I found myself wondering if the knight would turn out to be female when they took off their helmet (and also if I recognized the king from an old Disney film or just the art style). Bought this for my niece who is turning 3 soon and had to have a read. It was super cute! Yes, some of the rhyming was a bit awkward but it's still great

I didn‘t make time this year to read an adult banned book during banned book week, but I did read this gem of a banned book. I enjoyed this simple fairytale story with an LGBTQ twist. #bannedbooks 🏳️‍🌈

Read this earlier in year as part of my Challenge to read anything on the @AmericanLibraryAssociation Top 10 Challenged List for 2019 that I hadn't read.

A mild pick, mainly for topic. The inconsistent rhyming bothered me. I liked that they worked as a team to defeat the dragon. It‘s a cute and charming (a la Prince Charming 😉) story.

Mild pick, exclusively for theme. Such a cute concept, but the rhyming isn‘t well done. I love the twist on the fairy tale trope, it just could have been executed better.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THIS ADORABLE BOOK
I bought if for my daughter, in the hopes of adding more inclusive books in her library. Little did I know I would fall in love with this book. The illustrations are beautiful, the story is cute, and honestly quite different from the typical fairytale/royalty stories for children. And I just LOVE this book. Great read for adults AND children. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
