Lights. Camera. Murder.
When a movie production comes to town, Hannah finds herself with her two awaiting marriage proposals, a reunion with two old friends, another love interest and a new murder to solve.
These are super quick reads and light & entertaining.

I had no idea when I picked up this book that the titular murder involves a supposedly empty gun going off on the set of a movie. It‘s creepy when books from years ago are so pertinent to today‘s news.

This cozy mystery is #8 in the Hannah Swensen series. It was a little different and I like the twist. All family members got involved and it moved along nicely. I am not sick of Lake Eden yet so on to the next.

Just okay. I got annoyed by the square. Instead of a love triangle there is now a square 🤔 A movie is going to be made in Hannah's hometown. A murder happens. Hannah has a proposal from Mike and Norman.

For those wondering how Ross came to be in the later books, this one is where we meet Ross (né Bartonovich) Barton…

Hollywood comes to Lake Eden. An independent film, directed by a famous bad boy director, and produced by Hannah‘s college friend, Ross, is using the tiny Minnesota town as a backdrop. The movie plot includes a suicide, but in real life, it‘s murder.

Of course, hearing the recipes made me hungry for cheesecake, so I made some. ?

batsy Yum! 6y
mabell @batsy That‘s the problem with listening to a cozy with recipes. I get hungry! 😂 6y
BiblioLitten I have been wanting to read these yummy cosy mysteries for so long, and I always check out your posts for suggestions. 😊 6y

I'm not a creative person but I saw Book Riot's #riotgram challenge for today June 5th and wanted to play. I present my Rainbow Book Stack: cozy mystery edition! These are all books from my TBR.

🌟🌟🌟

The mystery part of this one was fine, but the dialogue borders on ridiculous and the love triangle (then square...) is just stupid. I've got 5 or 6 more of this series on my shelves, so I'm sure I'll read them eventually. If I didn't own them, though, I think I'd be done with Hannah.

wordslinger42 I've read the first couple in this series! My aunt has loaned me the rest of the books, so I'm interested to see if I like them! 7y
Traci1 @wordslinger42 if you like cozies, and can get past the dumb love triangle, they're cute little books, and the recipes sound really good (I can't do carbs so I've not actually tried any of them). I'm just kind of tired of the "who will she pick?" thing. 7y
wordslinger42 @Traci1 I'm with you there! Love triangles (or squares) in books have never been my thing! I tried one of the cookie recipes, though, & they were delicious! 7y

? I really don't understand why Fluke thinks this whole love triangle (now a square???) thing is a good literary decision. What sort of man would put up with this woman? I like the mystery parts of this series, but Hannah is beyond obnoxious, and I am so over the "who will she choose?" shtick.

I didn‘t like the way Hannah treated her boyfriends in this one, and I swear enough already with everybody in this town being passive aggressive fat-shamers! Hannah is doing perfectly well for herself -
Successful business, two men who both want to marry her, a family that loves and supports her -
So what if she is curvier than people think she “should” be!!!!

ferskner The two boyfriends stuff frustrates me in this series. 7y
bookwrm526 @ferskner agreed, and I thought she would have settled it by the eighth book in the series, but I guess if it works for Janet Evanovich 20-odd books later? Although it annoys me in that series as well 7y
