I found this book in a little free library and thought it looked interesting. I couldn't put it down and it surprised me constantly! I definitely reccomend! It bounces back and forth between 2010 and 1934ish... in Berlin and Paris.
Early to the airport and now my flight is delayed. Book #3 started.
Look who was here to greet us at the lake house driveway just now. Hoping to read, relax, sew, and craft while here.
I really enjoyed this book that shifts from modern-day America to Germany before and during WWII. The main character Anna attempts to unlock family secrets long buried by her recently deceased grandfather Max. Who was he really???
I enjoy books set during WWII (that sounds wrong to say, some how) so did enjoy this book. I have a knack for picking books in a series out of sequence. This book is the second of three books, fictional stories inspired by the Paris apartment that was left undisturbed for decades after the owners left during WWII. It sent me down a rabbit hole on the internet, searching out information and images of the original owner. 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Starting this.... while waiting on my daughter to get done ice skating with friends. She's entered the age of "Mom is so embarrassing" ???
Ugh! An interesting premise turned into absolute inanity. There was an incredible amount of buildup to reveal that the main character's grandfather was, in fact, a Nazi who left the party after he was ordered to shoot his fiancé. This huge reveal was taken with little more than "oh, ok. He only did what he had to for his family and his country." I felt like there needed to be more substance- I felt nothing for these characters at all.
This was a really good story. Fleshed put pretty well with believable characters. I couldn't wait to get back in the car to listen.
Found in a Little Free Library today and it seemed apropos since we're currently in a house by the lake too.
Current read. After bailing on my last title, I'm hoping for a winner here!
