Great read about a single mother named Anna and how she was forced to become the mistress of a German SS officer during WWII. The story tells how Anna carried this shame with her the rest of her life and unintentionally passed her shame onto her child.

The incredible true story of 4 women who married US soldiers who were stationed in Britain during WWII. These extremely strong women had to wait while their husbands were sent back to the US after the war. Many of them travelled pregnant and/or with small children across an ocean to a strange country to find their new husbands weren't always complete truthful about everything. This book was so good I couldn't put it down!!

What an extraordinary book!! The story of two sisters along with their friends and female neighbors who lived through occupied France and the brutality of the Nazis during WWII doing what they had to do to survive. Some did heroic things to save France herself. Kristin Hannah drew me into their lives word by word and page by page until the very end.
This cozy blanket and pretty book was a sweet surprise to arrive home to this afternoon after work. I'm already enjoying the blanket.
Thank you @lrh9 !!

Very enjoyable book. I loved all the characters . I laughed and cried with them from the beginning of the story to the end. The book is much more detailed then the movie. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to escape to Whistle Stop for just a little while.

Often in a patriarchal society history is written by men about men. One of the best lines in the book is "In a place with deep and binding tethers to the past, Katherine Johnson, a black woman, was midwifing the future." As were all the many women written about in Hidden Figures.
The movie was good but as is often the case some of the scenes in the movie were not even mentioned in the book (poetic license?) many more were left out.
Please welcome my friend @Tiffy to Litsy!

This remarkable book is a fictional story based on the lives of real people and real events. It's set in 1940's Paris as the world is set to go to war. A young woman learns that she has a grandmother who‘s reputation is less than pure. As the story progresses both women begin to know one another on a deeper level and a true relationship soon blossoms. Alyson Richman has the ability to wrap her characters around your heart.

Patrick Phillips tells a chilling story of racism in the U.S. I had no idea how much I didn't know. Everyone needs to read this book!!! What took place in the southern U.S. is nothing less then terrorism. On this MLK day I pray that Martin Luther King's dream becomes reality and let it begin with me.
@Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks you just inspired me to order this Alyson Richman novel.
I really enjoyed this book set in the 1940's WWII London blitz. The author brought to life the story of the British resolve to go on with their everyday lives while living through those dark unpredictable days.

Based on the true story of the St. Louis transatlantic ocean liner that left Berlin in 1939 with 900 plus Jewish passengers bound for Cuba. The German Girl is the fictional account of the Rosenthal family's fate on board the ship and in years spent in Cuba as seen through the eyes of young Hannah.

Thrilling fast paced incredible story of the how and why of the Magnisky Act. It is the gripping true story of the 2009 death of Russian attorney Sergei Magnisky at the hands of the Russian authorities. Bill Browder is called the man who took on Putin. The Magnisky Act and Russian adoptions have been the subject of the latest news about Trump Jr's meeting with some Russians before the election.
