Named of the Dragon | 
bailedI thought for sure that I'd like this one but I've spent the last thirty minutes staring off into space, debating whether or not to knuckle down and finish the book already. That was my sign to move on to something else.
Way too much space/time dedicated to the antics of vapid characters, and the triggers for the protagonist's years-past trauma were over the top.
A picture of firsts! I finished planning my first fall/winter square foot garden bed, and I am now diving into my first Susanna Kearsley novel.
I've been eyeballing her books for so long but I was a bit dense and didn't understand how her books tied together. Discovered that they don't, they're stand alone stories. The publisher marketing team just uses the same cover style on most of her books. 😖
pickLove Kearsley books! This is no exception. In some ways requires a little more extension of disbelief, but the Merlin/King Arthur connection is just fun. Honestly, the story without it could have been a little more fleshed out and have been complete by itself (as seems to be the case with her early books), but overall, it was a fun read.

pickExactly what I was in the mood for tonight. This is largely purported not to be one of Kearsley‘s best but I was completely captivated by her writing.

pickI have enjoyed all of Susanna Kearsley's books and this one is no exception. I couldn't put it down and I loved all of the characters. She really bring the characters and settings to life.
My dog stole my book!!! Just kidding, it's just fun to pick on a tired pooch.
pickNot my favorite Kearsley, but anything she writes is automatically better than a lot of other books :) I loved the Wales setting--now I want to go spend Christmas in Wales!
pickMore good than not, but not earth shattering. I think I'd like to read another of hers to compare. The premise is interesting, a modern drama with echoes of both Arthurian legend and Welsh/English history. I loved the descriptions of Wales. She's quite a competent writer, and laid out a compelling story but I found myself not very interested in the characters aside from Wales, the horse, the dog and the baby. But I'll give her another chance.
pickWell that was fun! This was my first Kearsley novel and it won't be my last. I thought I had the ending figured out but I was glad to be surprised. Loved the Welsh setting and Arthurian overtones. 🐲
So it's looking like the rest of the day involves a deep clean of the kitchen, a dog walk, and putting together a dish of enchiladas, all of which calls for a new audiobook. This will be my first Kearsley, and from all I've heard, she sounds right up my alley - so excited! ✨
so-soI aways come away from Susanna Kearsley's books satisfied, this one was no exception. This is not my favorite of hers, but still, it was good. The historical past mixing into the present life is usually something I love, but this time it didn't ring a bell.Even so,this book was enjoyable. Rating 3/5
Celtic legends, dangerous prophecies and a child destined for greatness. I love Susanna Kearsley and am currently trying to read her books in the order in which they were published & Named Of The Dragon is up next on my list. Sounds amazing

I read that quote & was quite confused. I'm reading 2 books, 1 to my daughter set during WWII England which I read this morning. I wasn't thinking of Named Dragon & was like "huh?? Her mother? She doesn't like her mom." That ever happen to you? book confusion.
pickWow. For my first Susanna Kearsley, I am impressed. I loved this! Haunting and romantic are definitely the words for her writing.
