Okay...serious question for you all. How do you motivate yourself to be productive? To eat better. Exercise. To tackle household projects. To clean. To organize. To better yourself.

I'm stuck in this awful spiral of living in my books, my audiobooks, the current Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Original series that I'm binging on. I'm always trying to check out and not do what needs done. It's rather self destructive and I'd much rather be self motivated.

JamieArc I use a bullet journal, and that often helps. Baby steps is what helps most. If you‘re having trouble doing something, break it down into something manageable, and then when you start accomplishing things, you get motivated to do more. But really, during pandemic time, be kind to yourself. You don‘t have to be productive right now. 5y
Chrissyreadit Yup- just pick one thing and try to stick with that small manageable task or goal. 5y
reading_rainbow i‘m the same way. lately ive been making myself wait until after dinner to read or watch anything, that way i devote the first half of the day to chores/errands, it helps cause i‘m forced to do other things until i let myself settle down and zone out lol 5y

BookwormAHN I haven't been that productive either. I also also have a bullet journal so I can mark off tasks and that does help also audio books are great to clean or exercise to. 5y
Lucy_Anywhere Don't beat yourself up. It's a weird time. I make the morning my productive time - chores, work, etc. Give yourself tiny tasks to do. I don't clean the bathroom, I wipe the sink. And then usually end up doing the whole thing 5y
BookmarkTavern I totally agree on the tiny tasks. I also use a free to do app called Habitica that turns habits and to do lists into a game with rewards. 5y
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Totally agree with @Lucy_Anywhere ! Small tasks. Last week I cleaned the fridge one shelf at a time. Rewarded myself with a couple chapters and some internet browsing between shelves. Or just take a walk around the block, and go from there. Audio books help motivate me to get out of the house. Also it's ok to not do anything. Sometimes you just need to recharge. You're not alone in how you're feeling right now. 💗💗 5y
ItsAnotherJen @ozma.of.oz I will check out that app! Thanks! Mornings are my most productive, I exercise and do general cleaning then. I just lose allll my energy in the afternoons. 5y
faelinwolf Yay for Habitica @ozma.of.oz ! Remember that we're all trying to deal with a pandemic that has brought a lot of grief, uncertainty, anxiety, & fear with it in addition to all the other stuff we have to deal with on a regular basis. Do the best you can. Feel what you feel. Be kind & good to yourself. I also agree with everyone's suggestion of small tasks, baby steps! 💕 5y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Start small. Consider your current schedule. Is there a time you naturally stop reading and putter around to stretch? For me that's mid morning. I try to do a little bit then but that also leaves something for a little later. That forces me to get up again to finish it. Make a a few swaps for food. Smaller portions, prep for a few days, buy pre-made salad - anything to start. Drink water! I exercise after "work" so I'm not sluggish all day. 5y
BookishMe @ozma.of.oz sounds interesting. Let's see if that helps this incorrigible me ;p 5y
BookishMe Hey Jen, you must've peeked into my days ;)) I try not to beat myself over extended deadlines (my colleagues are too kind ;o) all-day naps & erratic reading. I TRY to focus on a doable task each day & usually end up scrambling to get more done ;(( then I hibernate to recover! I avoid the label :self-destructive not cos of self-denial. I don't need extra stress on myself. this is an ebb and you'll pick up with the flow 💞💞 be kind to yourself 5y
Jbakesmcgee3 I pick three things that I want to get done for the day. I do them then let myself relax :) 5y
Catherine_Willoughby With 5 kids at home I have no choice but to get things done . Its still early rises (knowing the postman is due helps me wake up). Homeschooling, Dinners along with housework. The only thing I've been putting off is change my younger girls clothes from Winter to Summer . Normally do while they are at school in April. No school till September 😔. Its a big job as label & box everything. She has 6 storage boxes of her big sister summer clothes 😫. 5y
Catherine_Willoughby Sell excess bits but admins closed Facebook pages as in lockdown. Isolating as have vulnerable teenagers 5y
mhillis Maybe tell yourself you only have to do a task, like cleaning, for a really short amount of time, like 2 or 5 minutes per day. Often starting is the hardest part! 5y
mabell Everyone has great suggestions, and I‘m not at all a good person to offer advice as I am not good with time management (lazy?) But what can tip the balance for me is planning for something very special - like a dream trip. What do I need to get to make it happen, get ready for it, to do it I have to have things in order, etc. and that makes me more excited to TCB! Even if it‘s dream planning, it helps! 5y
Redwritinghood I wish I knew too 5y
OrangeMooseReads When you find out will you let me know? 5y
ItsAnotherJen Thank you for all the great advice! 🤗 It's nice to know others are feeling the same. 5y
sb3626 @ozma.of.oz I am going to have to try this app! 5y
DaveGreen7777 It‘s so hard because the times we‘re feeling the most drained are often also the times we put ourselves down for not being able to do more. Please try to keep in mind that you are going through an unprecedented and stressful time right now, so if you feel unproductive right now, that‘s perfectly understandable. I would recommend going at your own pace instead of trying to do too much too soon and burning yourself out even more. Hope this helps! 5y
sharread When I organize I separate everything by bag, I collect bags then put wipe down clean and put stuff back in the proper spot. Hope that helps. 😁👍 5y
Sharpeipup I find if I exercise even if only for 10 minutes (walk, yoga, weights) I have energy to do the next thing - clean, meditate, cook, etc. 5y

This has been a favorite saying of mine since I first saw it. Perfect for a procrastinator like me.
I read today (Being Mortal), took a walk, mowed the lawn and my darebee workout. Knocking it out.
