He constantly strove for fame and riches and made up much of his life story - from his childhood to his time in the military, and even how many children he had. The author does a good job untangling the stories Screamin' Jay told to provide an honest look at the singer's life.

My father in law is an author, and one of his recent books would be a great addition to any #Screamathon stack! For Hocus Pocus fans, Jay Hawkins is the original composer and singer of the song in that infamous Sanderson Sisters scene, so his biography is relevant!

Plus, my FIL is a cool guy. 👻 Pictured here the last time my in-laws visited, and found his latest book at a local record store. ☺️

I don‘t mention it very often, but my father-in-law was a career journalist and in retirement has published half a dozen books. His latest books are all about lesser know R&B artists. 📚 👨🏻‍💻 🎼

We stopped by this badass little record shop next to Maya‘s middle school after dinner tonight, and it had her grandpa‘s latest book on the shelves! He signed it for a lucky customer. 🎶 What a wonderful family moment!
