This was a definite improvement over the last couple of books in the Hamish Macbeth series. But I miss the old narrator! 4⭐️

When Fergus Macleod, Lochdubh's abusive, drunk dustman is put in charge of the local recycling centre and is dubbed the 'Environment Officer', Hamish Macbeth smells trouble. Sure enough, Fergus, imbued with his new powers, becomes a bullying tyrant and when his body is found stuffed in a recycling bin, no one is sorry - including his long-suffering family.

EadieB But Macbeth is surprised to find that many of the despicable dustman's victims refuse to talk - and when violence strikes again, the lanky lawman must quickly unearth the culprit among a litter of suspects... before the killer makes a clean getaway! It was very interested to learn that a "dustman" is a garbage man. The book is a fun read and you can just feel the Highlands as you read so I really liked this one. 1y
EadieB The plot was interesting but ends up very bad in the end which was a complete surprise to me. If you like a light read then you will enjoy reading this one. 1y

Have to make sure in future it's not just the smell of garden waste making the bins smell...... 🥺
A cute ending for Hamish and Priscilla in this one, let's hope it stays happy! 🤞

An excellent entry in the Hamish Macbeth Series. To be honest the people who were killed were not exactly a loss to the community. A lot going on in this book for Hamish around the murder which made this an even better read. Recommended for anyone that likes light, entertaining cozy reads.

A leisurely Sunday is the perfect time to pay a visit to the idyllic village of Lochdubh in Scotland and catch up with Hamish Macbeth. But hold on, that saintly place has the highest murder rate of any place I know so might not be as relaxing as I think. Reading Death Of a Dustman so I wonder what the Dustman has been up to!

Andrew65 @Bookboss I have read all the Agatha Raisin Series, and agree. 7y
Andrew65 @EadieB They are quick fun reads between the bigger and heavier books. 7y
Andrew65 @Cathythoughts I love Hamish! 7y
Crazeedi @Andrew65 i read the first hamish and the first agatha 7y
Crazeedi @Andrew65 pops I posted before done! I have 3 more of each, but I want that thrilled, so they get better as you go? I'll have to read the next ones I guess 7y
Tamra 😆 Funny isn‘t it how these idyllic places are so deadly? My favorite place in WY (Buffalo) would have the highest violent crime rate per capita in the US. Maybe they need a new Sheriff? 😅 (edited) 7y
julesG I'd want that tartan wheely bin. 😁😁 7y
Andrew65 @Crazeedi They are good light entertaining reads with some humour, not intense thrillers or mystery books. Just basically a bit of light fun.always good for when tired or very busy! The Agatha books take a few to grow on you. 7y
Andrew65 @julesG I noticed that too. 😊 7y
Andrew65 @Tamra By the look of it they need to sack the sheriff! I blame Agatha Christie for making small quiet idyllic English Villages the most deadly! 7y
