Hex Wives
Hex Wives | Ben Blacker
6 posts | 5 read | 1 reading | 2 to read
An ancient battle of the sexes has raged for centuries, but a strange calm has befallen the age-old conflict as of late. How were the witches subdued, and what will happen when they remember how to wield their true power? "The women are too powerful. They must be tamed." For hundreds of years a war has been waged between a coven of perpetually reincarnating witches and the all-male conspiracy known as the Architects. After the death of the lead Architect in 2005, it seemed the witches had finally defeated their foes. Now, 13 years later, waking up in a perfect cookie-cutter home at the end of a cul-de-sac in a sunny corner of suburbia, Isadora has no recollection of her past life as the leader of a witch coven, nor her soul mate Nadiya, let alone the centuries-old war she has waged in defense of the soul of America... Collects issues #1-6.

Think Salem witch trials meets The Stepford Wives. It didn‘t resonate with me, and I didn‘t stick with it long enough to figure out how it all tied together. #scarathlon #skeletoncrew @Emilymdxn

ChaoticMissAdventures That is too bad! I have been a bit obsessed with Stepford wife's stories this year with books like My Husband 6mo
IndoorDame @ChaoticMissAdventures you could always give it a shot. Let me know if you like it 😊 6mo

Mehso-so

I enjoyed the witches through history storyline that made up the first part of the book. Then it became some really powerful witches meet The Stepford Wives and was just an ok story. It was definitely rushed but I think some of that‘s because the comic line ended (or something like that). I‘d like to see where the go with it do maybe someday it‘ll be picked back up.

This was so cool for maybe 3 pages. Then the bad ass blood magic based witches turned into brain washed 50‘s housewives (story set in 2008) “married” to the group of male witch hunters sworn to destroy them. It was boring, disappointing and frustrating. I kept waiting for the vengeance promised in the blurb and when it came...it really wasn‘t vengeance. I‘d say more of a tantrum really. The ending was confusing and the characters were flat 👇🏻

RainyDayReading It seemed like there were other elements that they tried to add to make the story stronger and more compelling. But they were never truly explained and a lot of things were just accepted that shouldn‘t have been and the whole “plan” crumbled so easily it just....oh it‘s so frustrating this story 😖 4y

Pickpick

Do you want to burn down the patriarchy? Did you ever watch Stepford Wives and think "this is good, but it could use more blood and magic?" Yep, me too. And apparently Ben Blacker as well. All 6 volumes of the acclaimed satirical miniseries are collected in this one volume. Fun read but I do wish there had been more character development. #WinterGames #SlayBells #TBRRead 15 pts @MidnightBookGirl @StayCurious @Clwojick

MidnightBookGirl I need to read this! Do you have a copy of this? 16 pts! 4y
