A solid novel. Gives us a nice prequel to the first season. Maybe wrapped things up a little too conveniently, but other than that 👍 #marvellousmay #startrek #readathon 4/8 books done

I love Star Trek and Picard so I'm happy I finally got to read it but I was a bit disappointed. Una McCormack's writing is great, she has a great ability to make characters and action come alive. But I found some of the plot pieces all over the place, and major action threads treated superficially without enough details; also, some characters' actions and even presence were not justified for me. Still a pick, it's Star Trek and Picard after all 😁

I liked the story, it's a bit slow though and the main action happens on the last 60+ pages. It bridges the gap between TNG and the new TV series, focusing on the Romulan culture, which is very well done by the author.

BUT the German translation was not doing the original characters justice. There were common/catch phrases that were mistranslated and it took me out of the story every time.

Catherine_Willoughby This is only for the German translation? This is in my amazon basket . Big tng fan 2y
julesG @Catherine_Willoughby Yes, the German translation is 😒. The story is fine. 2y
Prairiegirl_reading So my husband loves the new show. Is the book the same story as the show? He isn‘t a reader be he might actually read this. 2y

julesG @Prairiegirl_reading It's the story about the events before the show. The time between TNG and Picard. 2y
Prairiegirl_reading @julesG that is included in your original post isn‘t it!? Lol 🤦🏻‍♀️ sorry I didn‘t grasp that. 🤪🤪 2y

A wonderful, tragic story leading up to the events in Picard. I love Una McCormick's style and ability to make her characters come alive.

Catherine_Willoughby In my amazon basket for check out next week ❤. Called my oldest son Jean-Luc . My friend's surname is Picard. Had a beat I would call my first son Jean-Luc. He was right 😂 2y

I have zero restraint when it comes to Star Trek, particularly when that Star Trek is Space Dad* adjacent. This is the first Star Trek book I‘ve purchased in almost 20yrs and I cannot wait to read it (!!!!!!!)

#TrekkieLittens/#LittenTrekkies report! Who else is watching #StarTrekPicard??

🖖🏻

*Picard=Space Dad & has been since my mom sat me down to watch the TNG premiere at 5yo: “Watch this! You‘ll like it!” my mom‘s most famous last words.

lauren.lerner #StarTrek — listen, I know I‘m not the only #Trekkie on Litsy. The show is absolutely brilliant, I cannot possibly be on only one #onhere watching it 2y
TheBookDream I am! I like it quite a bit, although I wasn‘t crazy about this last episode and am mostly flying on faith that Kristin Beyer knows what she‘s doing (she‘s done awesome things imho in the Voyager novels). 2y
Catherine_Willoughby Read some of the teen novels of TNG but that was years ago 2y
julesG @lauren.lerner Haven't gotten to watching it yet. But it's on top of my list. 2y
