Ready to #TackleTheBeast #ConqueringCromwell #OddsAreAgainstMe Seems most of my Litsy friends have me bailing before page 100... hoping to prove them wrong😊If anyone would like to join our buddy read we will be discussing parts 1-3 on March 8!!!

rockpools How rude 😜! I‘m definitely enjoying it more this attempt - I think accepting it‘s going to be a slow read probably helps. We can do it 💪 (And welcome back 😘) 4y
Crazeedi I read Wolf Hall and dont really know what the fuss is. It was just ok 4y
KimM Mantel's prose is unusual and I think that trips people up in the first 100 pages. Once you get into it, though, its a work of art. Hence the awards. Can't wait for the new one. I've read the first 2 twice and they remain 2 of my all time faves. 4y

Kalalalatja I‘m not a fan of Wolf Hall, so maybe you‘ll like it 😅 4y
Deblovestoread I wish you luck...this should be right up my alley but I‘ve attempted to read it 3 times and failed. I don‘t know why it bothers me so much about this particular book. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y
Cinfhen I couldn‘t concentrate today @RachelO @Crazeedi @KimM @Kalalalatja @Kdgordon88 🤪I‘ll have to try again tomorrow 4y
Cinfhen Thanks @RachelO glad to be back 😘 4y
TheBookStacker I just started reading Wolf Hall 4y
Cinfhen Join our buddyread @TheBookStacker 💙💙💙 4y
CarolynM I have faith in you and also in the book! 4y
Reviewsbylola God speed. 😆 4y
Cinfhen How‘s it going @TheBookStacker ??? Any hints for getting through the initial pages??? I just can‘t focus for more than 15 minutes @CarolynM @Reviewsbylola 4y
Reviewsbylola My hint is to bail. 😂😬 4y
TheBookStacker I‘m trying to get into it but very difficult. I want to like it but it‘s so boring 4y
CarolynM I wish I could help, but I didn't find it a chore. There is so much in it about power and its effects, how it is used, abused, manipulated and sucked up to. You do need to be able to concentrate on it. Now may not be the best time to be trying. 4y
Cinfhen I definitely think this is just poor timing @CarolynM ☹️ 4y

Finally got my mitts on this little beauty. Free in Waterstones at the min (and on Kindle I believe).

#hilarymantel #themirrorandthelight #conqueringcromwell

Cathythoughts It‘s a great little booklet 👍🏻❤️ 4y
ElaineR @Cathythoughts It's a great little thing. More series should produce these when nearing the end. Even if you had to pay a £1 or £2 it's just great to have a recap available. 4y

I‘m in training for #ConqueringCromwell! This short ‘reading guide‘ gives a very brief summary of Wolf Hall & Bring Up the Bodies, then goes through a character list, & some of the main themes of the books. I‘m glad to read it before starting Wolf Hall - I‘ll especially be looking out for colour, fabric, things I may have missed.

Currently free in Waterstones (UK, Ireland)& on Kindle (UK, Singapore, maybe elsewhere)

Excited to get started now!

Cathythoughts I have this too! Must have a look ... I did get half way in Wolf Hall 2 years ago & bailed .... but I‘m excited to give it another go ... fabrics & colours- I like it 👍🏻❤️ 4y
Verity Oooh. I need to get this before the last part comes out. It‘s been years since I read the first two - still astonishes me that she got me to care about Thomas Cromwell of all people! 4y
ElaineR @Verity it just goes to show the power of a good narrative. Tell the story well from anyone's point of view and you can invoke sympathy. It's a wonderful and scary thing. 4y

squirrelbrain I have this too - got it last year from an independent bookshop in town. I‘ve taken it off the shelf along with the actual Wolf Hall book, nervous to get started! 4y
rockpools @Cathythoughts I saw this one from your post - so thanks! Yes, this‘ll be my second attempt at it too - not sure how far I got last time, but I feel like I‘m more prepared this time round. 4y
rockpools @Verity 😂😂That sounds like high praise - I think 🤔. Enjoy Book 3! 4y
rockpools @squirrelbrain I think it‘s worth reading beforehand - I certainly feel more excited to read the real thing now. Think I‘ll be looking for a print copy of this next time I‘m in town, though - it‘d be good to have the character list and family tree on hand... 4y
rockpools @ElaineR She‘s a very clever writer! 4y
squirrelbrain I‘ve just read mine this afternoon @RachelO - more excited than nervous now! 😁 4y
Verity @RachelO having studied Tudor history at a level, he was a definite villain in my mind before I read the books. Others were worse, but he was not great! 4y

Popped into Foyles yesterday as a few people mentioned that they couldn‘t get hold of the ‘catch up‘ free book the publisher is putting out ahead of the publication of the final book in the trilogy. I could only get two - but if you‘d like one drop me a line in the comments.

Graciouswarriorprincess I would love one, please! Thank you. 😃 4y
Mitch @Graciouswarriorprincess no problem - drop me an email with your address and I‘ll pop it in the post early next week. mitch(dot)k(at)mac(dot)com 4y
Graciouswarriorprincess @Mitch I will. Thank you! 4y

Well done publisher - part 3 of this trilogy is due out this year but it‘s been an age since book 1 & book 2 so I‘m grateful for this free slim ‘catch-up‘ book of notes!

Butterfinger Talking about moving a book up the tbr. I have to get busy. I have Wolf Hall, but I assumed it was a standalone and the author was dead. Just wow! 4y
hermyknee Oh where did you find that?! I loved the first two, but it‘s been ages since I‘ve read them! 4y
rustoryhuf I tried to read Wolf Hall when it was first released but couldn‘t get interested. I really need to try again. 4y

Scochrane26 This would be good because I‘m afraid I won‘t remember all the different characters (with the same names). 4y
Lcsmcat Yes, where did you get that? 4y
Mitch @Lcsmcat they had them free at my local Foyles Bookstore ( London) @hermyknee (edited) 4y
Mitch @rustoryhuf we saw them on the stage too and that really helped ! 4y
Graciouswarriorprincess Only available in the UK. :( 4y
LeahBergen Ooooo, lucky! I need one! 4y

Picked up in my local #Waterstones for free. Never read the series but #Audible have the two books in one and am really tempted to use my credit that is just sitting there so this book may be the push I need. As I watched the TV series and love anything Tudor.
