Name Drop
Name Drop: The Really Good Celebrity Stories I Usually Only Tell at Happy Hour | Ross Mathews
10 posts | 9 read | 5 to read
From Ross Mathews, the nationally bestselling author of Man Up!, judge on RuPauls Drag Race, and alum of Chelsea Lately, a collection of hilarious and irreverent essays about his experience with Hollywoods most talked-about celebrities. Pretend its happy hour and you and I are sitting at the bar. I look amazing and, I agree with you, much thinner in person. You look good, too. Maybe its the candlelight, maybe its the booze. Either way, lets just go with it. Keep this all between you and me, and do me a favor? Dont judge me if I name drop just a little. Television personality Ross Mathews likes telling stories. He was always outrageous and hilariously honest, even when the biggest celebrity he knew was his favorite lunch lady in the school cafeteria. Now that he has Hollywood experiencefrom interning behind the scenes at The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to judging RuPauls Drag Racehe has a lot to talk about. In Name Drop, Ross dishes about being an unlikely insider in the alternate reality that is showbiz, like that time he was invited by Barbara Walters to host The Viewonly to learn his hero did not suffer fools; his Christmas with the Kardashians, which should be its own holiday special; and his news-making talk with Omarosa on Celebrity Big Brother, which, as it turns out, was just the tip of the iceberg. Holding nothing back, Ross shares the most treasured and surprising moments in his celebrity-filled career, and proves that while exposure may have made him a little bit famous, he is still as much a fanboy as ever. Filled with tales ranging from the horrifying to the hilariousand with just the right Rossipes and cocktails to go along with themName Drop is every pop culture lovers dream come true.

Got this little antifa cat tattoo last week while I wrapped up this book. It was as I expected, maybe a little less interesting… I didn‘t realize this was his second book, and I think maybe I‘ll enjoy the first one better, bc I do like Ross Matthews!

I thought this book was released in 2005 bc the cover was a little corny, but it‘s from 2020! There are some terrible jokes in here but I died laughing in Chapter 2 (still reading, only on Chapter 3, so could keep going or could fall flat, who knows). For now I am very happy with this checkout from the library. Spill the tea plz ☕️

Prompt 11: read love match's prompt

I chose Cancer's prompt 15: number 4 in number of pages (240)

I've never met a cancer man that didn't rub me the wrong way. 🤷‍♀️ 😏 As for the book, it was fine for what it was. I just really need a light nonsense book once in a while, ya know?

And hopefully I tagged the correct people?

Clwojick You tagged the correct people ♥️ 5y

For someone who has not ever watched Chelsea Lately, Celebrity Big Brother, or shamefully RuPaul‘s Drag Race (I know, I know- what!?! I am too afraid of how much I will love and be obsessed with it); I am still a big fan of Ross Mathews. This book helped me escape from reality for a handful of hours and I am thankful for the laughs he provided. The illustrations and cocktail and food ROSSipes made it just perfection!

Lack of having errands to run and places to go is really killing my audiobook listening. Like I‘ve been listening to this for over a week and I feel like normally I would have been done in 2-3 days. 🥴

ShananigansReads Oh and it‘s on CD so taking it in/out of the house is just a pain. 5y
Scochrane26 Me, too. I was on hold for a long time for a certain audio, but now not sure whether to start it because I‘m not in my car. 5y

I hardly ever watch tv regularly with the exception of Ru Paul‘s Drag Race (and the Great British Bake-Off). Ross Mathews has always been one of my favorite judges. This was like meeting up with him for coffee and gossip! The story about Elizabeth Taylor (and probably Joan Collins) was probably my favorite.

Book 37/100

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Oh, Ross, you‘re so punny! Seriously. So. Many. Puns. I love the cheesiness. 🧀 I never really watched Leno, so I first “met” Mathews on the Chelsea Lately round table. Gah, I miss that show. This is an incredibly entertaining read about memorable celebrity run-ins, mostly who are friends, but some are folks with whom he simply crossed career paths. Plus, lots of fun cocktails and recipes. A delightfully guilty, funny read!

Violetsunrise84 He will always be Ross the Intern to me. 5y

This book was so much fun! I love Ross and you could almost hear his voice while reading this. He wanted this to feel like gossiping during happy hour and it so did! It's mostly fun celebrity stories, but he does tells it like it is with ones that have done him wrong. I see you Barbara Walters! He also included a cocktail and food recipes with every story. I got this as an e galley, but plan to pick up a hard copy just to have the recipes.

britt_brooke I love him! #stacked 5y
