The book is always better...

I am listening to the audiobook and reading along. The love of Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn and their music and lives has been part of my life since I was little. A book about two amazingly talented women and their friendship? Hell yes! I have never read Coal Miner‘s Daughter, (watched the movie a lot), so I don‘t know if it retells most of already told stories. Seems like it, but I am still enjoying it. Page markers from Dollar 🌲 😀

Currently reading. I wasn‘t sure I would enjoy it as much as I am. Knowing who Coriolanus will become is equivalent to watching Anakin‘s transformation to Darth Vader. Like what/when is the tipping point to full monster!? I have 100 pages left, and lots of questions unanswered. Pictured is my frog who is apparently reading something much more humorous.

I really don‘t have a problem with stopping time. What is time anymore?! This is only my third week without structure from my job, so I am starting to not quite know what day it is recently.

Just picking a random title. The real reason is to show what my library is doing for my community. Not only are they providing no contact library materials via online holds. They also used the library sewing machines and made face masks to give away to the public. #ilovemylibrary

Just starting this tonight, and all I can think about is Serenity Dennard. Ran off from a Children‘s home and vanished and has not been found since February 2019 in South Dakota.

CBee I devoured this book, and just finished the 2nd one a week or so ago. Both powerful reads. 5y
Sarahandhella @CBee I am already hooked. I already put a hold on and picked up The Butterfly Girl from the library today. 5y
CBee @Sarahandhella that‘s great to read them back to back 🙂 5y

I have kept myself very busy this week, now time to sit and read. I finished my #aworldofhearts window art yesterday. Now I read and wait for the real hummingbirds to arrive. I loved Moloka‘i, so I am excited to know more about Ruth‘s life.

Picked up my books from the library curb drop off this afternoon! They had them all packed up and ready to go and labeled with your name. It was a very streamlined and safe way to still be able to access library materials. Love my small town library!! Glad I can jump right into Daughter of Moloka‘i after I finish the first book!

I have mixed feelings about this. I live in South Dakota an hour away from the #1 hotspot for COVID-19. And a GOP Governor who refuses to issue a shelter in place for that county. But books!!! I had a friend say she was going to get so many books she had to strap them to the top of her car 🤣. My current read is tagged

Y‘all, I am struggling to get through this audiobook. I was drawn in by the title and cover admittedly, but that‘s about all it has going for it, in my opinion. Unless something dramatic happens, it‘s so boring. And I don‘t like any of the characters, in fact I loathe most of them. But I am too close to the end, so I am going to trudge through.

Sarahandhella I finished it, and still feel the same. 5y

For someone who has not ever watched Chelsea Lately, Celebrity Big Brother, or shamefully RuPaul‘s Drag Race (I know, I know- what!?! I am too afraid of how much I will love and be obsessed with it); I am still a big fan of Ross Mathews. This book helped me escape from reality for a handful of hours and I am thankful for the laughs he provided. The illustrations and cocktail and food ROSSipes made it just perfection!

Wasn‘t sure when I started it, but I am hooked now. I keep alternating between reading and listening. Marvel is thrilled that I am home even more than usual, which face it was already a lot of the time. I am a preschool teacher at a daycare center that has remained open so far. Although the amount of children is low so the staff has taken turns leaving throughout the week. So good to escape into books. Stay safe everyone.

Was perusing Jo-Ann‘s and saw ‘Bookish‘ planner stickers! That purchase was a no-brainer. Enjoying this beautiful weather in South Dakota (60 degrees in early March! 😀) and starting ‘Oona Out of Order‘. Hope it‘s a good one! #bookishstuff #happyplanner

I have practically inhaled her three books in the last couple of weeks. They are so good! I am feeling a little bit better about death. It was always so scary and taboo to talk or even think about, but reading these books I feel more comfortable talking about what I and my loved ones want when the time comes. This book was very interesting as it focuses on different communities death rituals. Highly recommend, but I am still reading...

Do you ever start a book and think maybe if I keep reading or listening it will get better? It doesn‘t and then by a certain point you just decide you might as well finish it. At least I‘ll have about 18 and a half hours of snuggle time by the end of this book.

I finally picked up this book and started reading after checking it out from the library about 3 times in the past couple months. I couldn‘t put it down. Her writing style is so relaxed and funny about death. The questions (from children) get the straightforward answers they deserve. Highly recommend. Marvel is giving me her, “Yes, I will dine on those peepers” look.

The first big storm of this winter. Hunkered down with homemade chicken gnocchi soup and listening to a book set in my area 131 years ago. Thankful for all my comforts and modern day meteorologists.

So, my morning started off with my family running a garage sale on the hottest day of the year (so far)... and towards the end of it I saw a Facebook post about someone looking for a home for a kitten. So after 18 months without a pet, I picked up Marvel Sparkles this afternoon. She‘s not entirely sold on me yet, but I think she‘s pretty great!

I haven‘t made significant process in this book, but it isn‘t because I don‘t like it. So far it‘s probably the best book of 2019 for me. I read about 60 pages like breathing air, but then I have to take about two days in between. Maybe it‘s because the characters are so fleshed out that it feels like I am reading something very private? I am excited to see how it ends up, but I am not in a rush.

Thankful that my stabbing pains in the back and belly was easily treatable, but not without a visit to the ER this morning. Slept most of the afternoon away, but blessed to be outside reading this fine evening. Obviously I have seen this book touted everywhere, but I didn‘t read anything about it. Just picked it up from the library and started reading today. I am about 60 pages in, it hooks you fast!

Spring brings with it a hell of a lot of distractions from reading. Planting, garage sales, celebrating graduations, and DIY projects in my case. Read about half the amount I usually read in a given month. But now things are settling down and I am ready!!

“Not today.”

Snack break! I bought these a couple of weeks ago and hadn‘t opened them. These were the first 3 I pulled out. Since the show is winding down I thought I would revisit the actual books and get reacquainted since the lines are blurring in my memory of the differences. Have started the audiobook at night. Here‘s to whatever happens tonight on the show! 🥂 🍻

Sounds Like Titanic: A Memoir | Jessica Chiccehitto Hindman

A tale of two books. Both finished in the last two days. The tagged book was just a whim at the library, I guess they both were... I am not a memoir fan, but Hindman‘s story of working for The Composer was very intriguing and before I knew it I had read the whole thing. Highly recommend! I can‘t say the same for Tremblay‘s Cabin. The premise was great and horrifying, but the execution was so-so. Plus the narrator was bad.

Finally read Bingo Love. The cover intrigued me when I first saw it, and I checked it out once before but never got to reading it. It was a sweet love story. This was my first outside reading of the year! Yesterday I went a little nuts and got way too many flowers for mid-April. I guess I will have to enjoy carting the flowers in and out of my house for the next three weeks!

Last time I had this book in front of my window the snow was all gone and it was open and in the 60s. I just want to start planting and turn off my heat. Is that too much for a girl to ask of mid-April weather. Finished the book today, pretty short. Prefer the show, the humor and quirkiness of the characters is not present in the novel. That said I am on to “No Tomorrow”.

Absolutely gorgeous weather outside, but it is that awkward time of the year where it is 66 today. You want to get your patio set out, but then you are threatened with snow for some of the upcoming week. So I am stuck reading by an open window. Excited that season 2 is starting tonight, thought I would try the books since I enjoyed the show.

Grabbed some books for my preschool class at the library today. I can already tell that I can never read this to children without bawling. The story is about a little boy, James, and the balloons signify memories. His Grandpa‘s balloons start to drift away. James wants to catch them and bring them back, but he can‘t. Good book for anyone with a family member who is dealing with dementia.
