I wasn‘t sure of this at first as it started with the author falling in love with a Bedouin and I thought the whole book would be a bit ‘me, me me‘.
However, this soon turns into a study of the ‘ordinary‘ Jordanian people, which is just the kind of travel book that I prefer. The relationship between Annie and Rathwan actually serves to reflect the other people that they meet, particularly his family and friends.

My #bookspin book has been hanging around on the board for a few months and I‘ve been so wanting to read it but it‘s never fallen quite right.
My #doublespin book, tagged, is for #readingasia2021 #jordan.
Excited to get going on these!
Tagged - I don‘t know how easy it would be to replace this book and I love it so much 2. The near complete works of David Eggers 3. Marshmallows THANKS for the tag @Andrea4 Interested? @teebe @PurpleyPumpkin
Least favourite? I‘ll read anything but don‘t like graphic sex scenes. 3. Explore 4. Brown 5. I usually say the tagged book. It‘s definitely the book I reread the most often with the most fondness. @MinDea #humpdaypost
Congratulations on your milestone @ErinSueG #5kgiveaway I have several favourite books, the tagged book is an undiscovered gem of a travel memoir. I reread it often. ❤️❤️❤️
I know it's like choosing a favourite child, but whenever the topic of my all-time favourite book comes up so does this book. It blends insight into Jordanian history and culture with a very personal love story between two very different yet very similar people. I'm always in tears when I turn the last page. Simply beautiful. Also, while reading it this time, I found out the author has passed away. I wish I'd have written to her and told her
These are a few of my favourite things #24in48
I love this book so much. This is my third copy. It's a real life love story between a British writer and a Jordanian Bedouin.
#funFriday this is one of my all time favs. I retread it every few years (I read it cover to cover when I was in labour with my youngest). Annie is a British journalist who falls for a Jordanian Bedouin in this bittersweet love story.
