pickAn atmospheric summer read, reminding me of the hazy, lazy days of summer, and the angst that happens wondering how people perceive you. A family goes on their yearly summer lake vacation, but things do not go as normal when the Godden boys join them. Recommended to me by @TheLudicReader for #NYWD 2022. pickThis was a good YA read, the Godden family are on holiday when two young men join them over the summer. It brings about disruption to their summer, romances are formed and relationships end.

pickThis YA novel set at the English seaside evokes lazy summer holidays where the only pressing concerns are whether to read or swim... but that comfort is upset by the arrival of new people, along with the passions & jealousy of first love. Listening to the psychologically intense audiobook read by a man—Andrew Scott—is a distinctly different experience from print because the gender (& name) of the first-person narrator isn‘t revealed in the text.
I coined a new series of collective nouns: a plague of Goddens; a murder of Goddens; a conundrum of Goddens; a siege of Goddens; a pounce of Goddens; a chaos of Goddens.

pickThis was 100% my thing: a quick summer read with self-absorbed characters in their formative years. I‘m not sure if I‘d have lived it as much were it not for Andrew Scott‘s thoughtful narration. He can pause dramatically like nobody‘s business and I am here for it.
pickI mean it‘s almost but not quite rich people problems. I was originally so-so but it‘s closer to a pick. The tennis match was enough to push me over to pick. (Quick) beach read territory.
so-soThis was an interesting book. Told from the perspective of a character with no name, this story of summer infatuation had an old, Atonement, 1930s picnic at the beach vibe that's hard to fully pin down.
