A #SwoonWorthy debut!!!! I LOVED this loosely mythological based novel about the Briscoe family of Olympus, Texas. Patriarch Peter(Zeus) has three grown children with his wife June (Hedra) & 3 more from 2 other women. When prodigal son March returns to town after a two year absence the fates & furies wreck havoc on this Godlike family. SO MUCH DRAMA!!! Completely captivated. My FAVORITE book so far from @MallenNC #NYWD list 🙌🏻❤️

Wow! This is a shocking but fascinating story. How Holmes thought she could get away with it? Blind optimism? Too much faith in her ideas? Did she set out to deceive everyone? Be interesting to see what sentence she gets. Thank you for putting this on my radar @shadowspeak17 #newyearwhodis #nywd

janeycanuck I highly recommend listening to The Dropout podcast - the first season covers what you‘ve read in Bad Blood but the second covers the trial. 2d
PathfinderNicole I read yesterday that one of the streaming services (Hulu I think?) is making a show about this based off The Dropout podcast! 2d
Beachesnbooks i'm obsessed with this story--the Dropout and Bad Blood podcasts are also worth a listen!! 2d
shadowspeak17 I‘m glad you liked it! It really is such a fascinating story. 1d

BarbaraBB Thank you dear Cindy. I haven‘t read for a few days and am really aching for some quiet time with a book. Diver‘s seems a good one to start with. Tomorrow is fine for me if it suits you too? Xxx 2d

I read and liked this author‘s other book, The Roanoke Girls, but also know how dark this author can get, so I braced myself for this one. It was a good mystery. Fast-paced, and then for the last 40 pages, I had to cover the page so my eyes didn‘t glance ahead to find out what happened. This book is about a lot of things, and I like that it shows that people aren‘t all good or all bad. A solid mystery, though it‘s already fading from memory #NYWD

monalyisha Great review! 2d
TheLudicReader I also loved The Roanoke Girls. This one broke my heart. Glad you enjoyed. I would read anything this author wrote, I think. (edited) 2d

My #CurrentlyReading stack is brought to you by a wandering attention span and some mood reading. The tagged book is from my #NYWD list and 1619 Project is a group read. The others are library books.

Bellman & Black: A Novel | Diane Setterfield

I wouldn‘t normally choose to read a ‘ghost story‘ but I‘m really glad this was on your #nywd @LeeRHarry . It‘s the sort of book that works really well (for me anyway) on audio; kind of meandering and unhurried but with lots of beautiful prose and detail.

Have you read Once Upon a River, Lee? That‘s the only other Setterfield I‘ve read and I enjoyed this one just as much.

LeeRHarry No I haven‘t Helen - I did read The Thirteenth Tale and wasn‘t much of a fan. But I‘ll definitely check out this one if you enjoyed it as much as B&B 😊Yet again it puts a big smile on my face to see that you are enjoying the books on my list 😃💕 (edited) 4d
squirrelbrain That was the last one on the list Lee - going to post my ‘wrap up‘ shortly…. 😁 @LeeRHarry (edited) 4d
LeeRHarry @squirrelbrain yay! Looking forward to the wrap up 😊 4d
Readergrrl Bellman & Black was one of my favorite novels the year that I read it. I still think about it and it‘s been years. I loved the writing style and it‘s general ambiance! 4d
monalyisha It‘s so funny: you‘ve described the exact type of book that I usually save for a print experience. 😅 I *have* been wanting to read this one, though, & your review definitely bumped it up! Thanks, @squirrelbrain & @LeeRHarry! 3d

This is why #NYWD is so grand — I‘ve discovered an excellent read that was completely unknown to me prior to appearing on @Mitch ‘s list. Memory is an inmate in a Zimbabwean prison. She‘s writing her life story to someone who may be able to help her out of her situation, which allows readers to gain insight into her tragic childhood, and series of events that led Memory to where she is now. Tragic. My second read for #NewYearWhoDis

vlwelser It even matches your decor. 😍 4d
Mitch So glad it was a positive discovery! I love #newyearwhodis! 3d
Mitch I‘m about half way though Betty and I‘ve shed tears! 3d
