If you're interested in The Holocaust, read this book. I'm so amazed and inspired by the young Jewish women who rose up and fought. Young people knew they outnumbered Hitler and his Nazis and they fought like hell.

I have to read this entire book, write two essays, a proposal, and clear out all of my Valentine's Day orders by Saturday afternoon. I got this. 😅😳📚
Meticulously researched, emotional and harrowing. I applaud these brave and selfless women, who dedicated their lives to save their people.

Telling the story of female Polish, Jewish resistance fighters during WWII, Batalion took on a daunting task. Women are historically left out of talks of war, and the sources she used spanned counties, languages, and time periods. She managed to weave a captivating story highlighting some of the women who fought for their people.
I mostly listening to the audiobook, so I had a little difficulty keeping the women straight in my head.
What a haunting and profound book about the women who fought in ghettos during the Holocaust. Amazing feats of strength bravery and wit's allowed women to fight back against the Nazis. What an amazing story. Excellent. Loved the narrator for the audiobook. 5 ⭐ #NFN #NonFictionNov #NFN21

Switching up reading spots and books. I want to save the last 200 pages of my previous read/audiobook for tomorrow while i shop and clean. Fancy decided to join me in my new spot. She is a readathon pro. #deweysreadathon
This novel chronicles several Polish Jewish women resistance fighters. The women would escape the ghetto (moving information, arms, and supplies), organize education and supplies, and fight. Unlike other WWII books, there‘s no glorification of heroes nor little to be left to the imagination of torture and execution. I don‘t recommend reading it before bed, but I do recommend reading it!
I listened to the audiobook and I feel like this was a missed opportunity to tell further develop the characters as a narrative nonfiction or historical fiction. I would have preferred a deeper dive on fewer women, but I'm assuming she didn't have a lot to go on, so a historical fiction with some creative liberties taken would've been great.
This week's cataloging cart includes the new J.R. Ward, a Star Wars themed knitting book, and a book called Can I Recycle This?, which after flipping through, looks extremely handy. And some afternoon sun.☀️
I‘d encourage anyone with an interest in World War II resistance movements and/or lesser known women of history to give this book a go. Judy Batalion describes the struggles and triumps of the female ZOB leaders, among others, in an appropriate tone that continuously reminds you that these are the real, lived experiences of some very brave people, without excessive glorification or melancholy.
Super heavy but super informative and important book about the female resistance fighters in the ghettos of WWII. Normally I‘m not that into lengthy nonfiction about this era, but this one read like a novel and definitely kept my interest!
