Magic's Pawn:
Exasperated by his musical, dandy-ish, unmartial son Vanyel, Lord Withen sends him to stay with Savil, the boy's aunt at the court in Haven, as a punishment.

A quick, enjoyable coming-of-age, if rather overwrought, story set in a magic world. I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I'd read it when it first came out and was closer to Vanyel's age. ⬇

rwmg Magic's Promise
12 years later, Vanyel is now a seasoned Herald-Mage in desperate need of rest and recuperation and so returns home to Forst Reach where he has to deal with some unresolved issues from his childhood and a dangerous political situation across the borders.

A quick read which kept me turning the pages to see what happened next without it being particularly emotionally engaging. ⬇

rwmg Magic's Price
Can the singing of a young Bard help ease the pain of the King of Valdemar, who is slowly dying?

I felt this one dragged a bit in places and there seemed to be a lot more typos in the text. But it was still a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy.

GondorGirl These were the books that got me into fantasy as a tween. While they aren't my favorite Valdemar books, they're always going to hold a special place in my heart. 7mo

Mitsy was released from the hospital this afternoon. It turns out she was suffering from environmental toxicity from a hotel renovation that wasn't vented correctly. Rather then getting more rest she insisted on being brought back to the convention so she didn't disappoint her fans. I might have spent more then a few minutes sobbing when I saw that she was truly alright.

Yesterday morning Mercedes Lackey was rushed to the hospital. At first they thought it was a stroke, but now it's looking like environmental toxins.

@jpmcwisemorgan, @knittedgnome, and I went to her signing the day before this happened. I was supposed to meet her again today. This is crazy. And horrible. Hopefully everything works out okay.

GondorGirl @LibrarianRyan I'm not entirely sure, but I do know that the hotel she was staying in just underwent major renovations. 6y
Dragon I hope she recovers quickly now she‘s away from whatever the toxins are . 🙏 6y
LibrarianRyan @GondorGirl okay. That helps narrow it down to something like mold, asbestos, drywall fungus. I was hoping it wasn't like purposeful toxin. 6y
