The Ghost Variations: One Hundred Stories | 
pickHow deep of an impression can a story — or a life — leave, when it is brief? This seems to be the existential and literary question that Brockmeier plays with in his collection of flash fiction, “The Ghost Variations.”
I read this one for book club and, therefore, didn‘t get to read it in quite the way I would‘ve liked. I recommend floating in & out rather than reading 100 2-3 page stories in a straight shot (trying to finish on a deadline). 👇🏻
monalyisha 1/1: Some of my favorite stories include: “A Notable Social Event”, “A Long Chain of Yesterdays”, “Wishes”, “Thirteen Visitations”, “Bees”, “All His Life” (which is very silly), “Take It With Me”, “An Inherited Disorder”, and, *most* notably, “The Abnormalist and the Usualist” (which is barely a ghost story, but ties into my particular interest in religious studies (and absurdity!) so keenly, it‘s like it was written just for me). 1y

monalyisha #Scarathlon2022 this feels like cheating, but I‘m pretty sure each short story is able to be counted as a full book…which means that I‘d do the math of 100 short (very short!) stories as: 15pts x 100 = 1500 points.
