3/5 ⭐️. A fun and quirky read. The premise I enjoyed: falling into the stories you read and becoming them, but there was a twist near the end I wasn‘t expecting! There were a few serious and sad moments amongst the mostly silly happenings. I thought the comic book part was extra fun!
Love this author photo! It looks like my weekend plans. 😉
I didn‘t have time to grab a book for myself at the library before Lucy‘s violin lesson, so I‘ll be reading one of her picks for the next half hour. Needs must! 😄 (Why don‘t I keep books in the car?! Dammit, Marie Kondo, you‘ve ruined me...)
The library at the school I teach had a selfie scavenger hunt and one of the challenges was to take a picture looking like a book cover — I had to share this here because who would appreciate this more than my friends on Litsy?
This was not what I thought it would be at all but I liked it. Teen girl doesn‘t cut it for her Broadway dream and ends up pulled into (literally) the books that she reads. Pretty fun.
This book wasn't perfect, but it was a lot of fun. The main character is a hot mess teen who dropped out of high school to try to make it on Broadway, didn't succeed, and gets a nannying job and moves to Montana with the family. She picks up a book and gets literally sucked into it- becomes a character, and some of the characters have the faces of people she knows. I wish the author wouldn't have tried to explain what was going on towards the end.
1. At work: 2 treatment progress reviews, 2 treatment checklists, and 2 assessments, plus delivering 2 of my reviews and checklists for the month to my clients. At home: try to keep the dishes/laundry to a minimal level, participate in #buzzwordathon and #winterween, catch up on #sundaybuddyread, and start one book for #authoramonth
2. Having yesterday to read and play with my 5 month old son

I‘m liking this book so far. Josie seems to be trying to relive her high school romance through books.

While listening I finished my DIY gingerbread house box calendar for my bf. Now I‘ve got to wrap the gifts and throw them in! I may throw chocolate in there too.

Are you getting crafty for the holidays?
She falls into the books she‘s reading to figure out her real life issues. This is how I want to deal with all my problems.
What I liked: it addresses that awkward stage of teenage to adult where everything is scary. Some people seem to make it work and others have dreams that don‘t work the way we thought they would and it‘s terrifying because that was the dream. Now what do you do? While Josie isn‘t exactly likable her characterization made sense and the things she went through are certainly things I could relate to.
Pretty meh story overall though.
I was a little worried at first with this one. The writing was good, but the main character was shallow & while the premise was interesting, I was afraid it was going to be stupid rather than silly – but the story grew depth & direction & ended up being fun - I found myself laughing out loud several times. It has a good message & the MC grew and matured over the course of the pages.
Probably appeals most to traditional aged YA readers. 3.5/5 ⭐
