Not a bad cozy. The magic system wasn‘t well explained and seemed to be created as the plot needed it to be. The mystery was solved all at the last minute a bit too easily. Honestly, it might be a halfway decent book had it been fleshed out some more. But overall a fun okay witch-themed cozy.
Book 19 for #screamathon and #scarathlon
Book 9 for #outstandingOctober
Elementary writing made this just a so-so read. The main character left town years ago hating magic, vowing never to use it again. Rather than developing that story line, it‘s abandoned when she returns to town and buys into it hook, line, and sinker. Zero character development thruout and the mystery is cut and dried and bleh. Even the cat, which lured me into the book, has a bleh personality. Kinda cute, but in all honesty, just skip this one.
This is supposed to be a cozy read, so I assume this sort of nonsense is necessary:
“I lied, but I was not going to tell him my real thoughts. I was thinking about how your biceps are so spectacular that they made me believe in love again.”
I'm anxious for lighter reading given the very dark and heavy reading I've been doing, so I picked this cozy mystery (pick 95% based on the cover).
