11 posts | 14 read | 10 to read
The thrilling sequel to instant New York Times bestseller All the Stars and Teeth, called "captivating" by Tomi Adeyemi, "Vicious and alluring" by Hafsah Faizal, and "phenomenal" by Adrienne Young. Now author Adalyn Grace is back with more high seas adventure in All the Tides of Fate, this electrifying fantasy, perfect for fans of Stephanie Garber's Caraval and Sarah J. Maas's Throne of Glass series. Through blood and sacrifice, Amora Montara has conquered a rebellion and taken her rightful place as queen of Visidia. Now, with the islands in turmoil and the people questioning her authority, Amora cannot allow anyone to see her weaknesses. No one can know about the curse in her bloodline. No one can know that she's lost her magic. No one can know the truth about the boy who holds the missing half of her soul. To save herself and Visidia, Amora embarks on a desperate quest for a mythical artifact that could fix everything--but it comes at a terrible cost. As she tries to balance her loyalty to her people, her crew, and the desires of her heart, Amora will soon discover that the power to rule might destroy her. An Imprint Book Praise for All the Stars and Teeth: "Jam-packed with swashbuckling adventure, swoonworthy romance, and dark, lush magic." - Christine Lynn Herman, author of The Devouring Gray "If an epic sea fantasy filled with strange pirates and vengeful mermaids speaks to your interests, well...we may have found your favorite book ever....a tale of magic and second chances that's fresh and thrilling in equal measure." -Entertainment WeeklyOne of Buzzfeed's Most Anticipated YA Books of 2020

I struggled to get into the book, but once I got through the beginning, the story sucked me in. I think I prefer this one to the first one. They both had different feels to them, but there was just something about this one that I prefer. Of course, the ending got to me. They always take my favorite characters from me...

#BookReport
I had a hectic week so I only managed to finish the one book this week but it was exactly what I expected it to be so I enjoyed it.

#WeeklyForecast
My goal this week is to finish Shady Lady and at least get through Part 1 of Once and Future King. I've started to put myself out there more socially (ie I joined a recreational Roller Derby league) so my reading time is shrinking a bit BUT I will try to READ ALL THE THINGS!

I found this to be a fitting conclusion to the trilogy. I feel like this was a pretty typical YA fantasy read where the characters grow as they come to terms with the adventure they are thrust into. I would say that the ending was not quite perfectly happy but all the characters end in a believable place.

🎧 All The Stars & Teeth = OwlCrate. Enjoyed it.

I‘m normally 50/50 on pirate plots & YA tropes.

I‘d buy this duology. I love Bastian. Amora‘s shell shocked from the ending of book 1 so her choices suck. She has lessons to learn AKA character development.

Fun book - interesting ending.

Predictable but compelling enough to keep me reading. They ended up exactly where I wanted them to be. A happily ever after ending? Maybe. 🖤

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

2✨ Well, it had a nice tie up. I like the idea of this short series, but I just wasn‘t a fan. I just didn‘t really have a connection with the characters and didn‘t care how it ended, but I liked the first book enough to finish this.

This gorgeous book came out earlier this week! I'm in love with the covers! The only problem is when you get the first book in the duology through BOTM and then the second book doesn't match in size! 😒 😂🤣

DaveGreen7777 ARRGH! Mismatched sizes in book series drive me coo-coo! 😩 3y

Thanks to NetGalley I got a sneak peek at this sequel. Always nice to read books back to back! This time, I found it led to me noticing a number of holes and uneven writing - perhaps those will be fixed by publication. These books have some great world building and fun minor characters. The problem is the heroine is awful. She‘s arrogant, bloodthirsty, stubborn, selfish, and not very smart. Her character development goes backwards in this book.

Bookgirl #winter here in Michigan! 3y
