Fun and Games
Fun and Games | Duane Swierczynski
5 posts | 2 read | 1 to read
The first of three explosive pulp thrillers arriving back-to-back from cult crime fiction sensation and Marvel Comics scribe Duane Swierczynski. Charlie Hardie, an ex-cop still reeling from the revenge killing of his former partner's entire family, fears one thing above all else: that he'll suffer the same fate. Languishing in self-imposed exile, Hardie has become a glorified house sitter. His latest gig comes replete with an illegally squatting B-movie actress who rants about hit men who specialize in making deaths look like accidents. Unfortunately, it's the real deal. Hardie finds himself squared off against a small army of the most lethal men in the world: The Accident People. It's nothing personal-the girl just happens to be the next name on their list. For Hardie, though, it's intensely personal. He's not about to let more innocent people die. Not on his watch.

I've gone Uber Nerd and made up about half a dozen book related games with bookish prizes. These are my 2 fave #BookTitleOrPornTitle 😂. Even snuck in a Litsy reference! #LitsyAfterDark #Nerd 🤓📚💚❤

I'm totally blowing up Litsy with all my party stuff. But you're the only ones who will really understand. #SorryNotSorry #ChristmasParty

I love doing the Goodreads #SeasonalReadingChallenge, which I'll never finish but I have a good time with it anyway. Matching books to tasks is wonderful book nerd fun. I tell my husband it's like Fantasy Football for book people. Do any Littens besides @balletbookworm and me play?

balletbookworm This season's going to be a lower finish than normal for me - my lack of reading mojo/unexpected home renovation really took a toll :| 7y
8little_paws I don't know what this is! 7y
8little_paws I looked it up and I've heard of this before come to think of it. I saw it a few years ago and it seemed so complicated my eyes crossed and I ran away 😄 7y

BookishFeminist Sometimes! I haven't done it the past few seasons but I've enjoyed it in the past 😀 I'm doing too many reading challenges this year but it's definitely something I want to do again. I love figuring out which books on my shelf fit which tasks but it is a lot to keep track of. 7y
CocoReads This is one I've missed. Maybe next year! 7y
Lacythebookworm I've done it in the past. Maybe 3 or 4 seasons. I loved planning out my books! I got close to completing a couple of times, but never did. 😊 7y
cdreincarnate Never heard of it, but I would definitely be interested in giving it a try. 7y
Lola @cdreincarnate @CocoReads You can start any time. Each season is 3 months long and if you join midseason, you can use books you've already read as long as they're within the season's dates. It's addictive 🙃 (edited) 7y
Lola @Lacythebookworm I did it as the first time as a way to direct my TBR but I'm just a mood reader that I end up plugging books in after I've read them 7y
Lola @BookishFeminist Definitely a lot to keep track of! I ended up creating a private GR groups for it which I now use for all my challenges. I wish I got paid for all the time I spend on these things 😛 7y
Lola @8little_paws That was my first reaction but then I went in and now I'm hooked 🙃 7y
Lola @balletbookworm Home renovation is a good thing. I hope your reading mojo comes back soon! 7y
balletbookworm @Lola it would be good if it weren't so expensive! 🤑🤑🤑 and that was doing it myself, I don't even want to know how much redoing a closet would cost if I paid someone else 😱 7y

Pickpick

Pulpy fun that could have been cut by about 30% to make it more vital and less wash, rinse, repeat.

There are two more in the series and I'll try to track them down.

Kensalikof I've only read the middle volume. It's like a pulp novel as written by Kafka. 8y
