Aw. Sweet book, with anxious characters getting a HEA.

After loving You Deserve Each Other, I was so excited to read Sarah Hogle's next book! Unfortunately, I think I set my expectations too high. There was nothing wrong with the story, but it was not as memorable.

So far I‘ve read three this year, here are the most recent two.

Finished this sweet book! HEA and all. Loved the slow build of their relationship, each opening up a little at a time. I identified with Maybell, especially this paragraph near the end of the book.

Color Street nails: Coral Bay

I enjoyed this but I didn‘t love this. I did like the characters and their own personal issues. I really had to suspend belief with some of the air travel details as some things just couldn‘t happen these days. (I know, it‘s fiction.). I would have also enjoyed more spicy scenes!

Wesley and Maybell were so perfectly portrayed. He is the grumpy to her sunshine. Two introverts must learn both patience and acceptance. They jointly inherit a crumbling mansion and unearth its secrets together.
A beautiful love story about starting over, finding yourself and being comfortable in your own skin.

Driving home from my weekend trip and listening to this. I absolutely loved the authors debut work so very excited.

I read a lot of rom coms and I have to say that this one has moved into my top 5! I fell in love with these characters.💛 Also, as someone who deals with social anxiety I appreciate the author‘s care in creating a wonderful, likable character dealing with this issue.

This is a cute grouchy guy/sunshine girl romance. One of my favorite tropes.

DNF at 144 pages. The main character is annoying and immature. There is no chemistry between the love interests. I hated the alternative universe.

Starting this one in the morning.

This was a sweet one. I wouldn‘t say it was masterfully written and the AU interludes weren‘t my favorite but overall I did enjoy it.

What can I say, I‘m a sucker for a sweet romance 🤷🏼‍♀️

Another hit from Sarah Hogle. He's grumpy, she's sunshine. He wants an animal sanctuary, she wants to restore the house to it's former glory and let it be a hotel. Aunt Violet had a few tricks up her sleeve with her final wishes for Wesley and Maybell, all but forcing them together. Maybell breaks through Wesley's defenses, seeing his anxiety and fear and loving him through it. By the end of the book I was absolutley sobbing.

I picked this up both because I liked Sarah Hogle's last book and because I am a sucker for the grumpy one loving the sunshine one and it did not disappoint! The slow burn, the forced proximity, the fun writing style, and the wonderful character growth were all done so well. There were a few scenes/subplots that probably could've been dropped but overall it made me feel like I had gotten a warm hug by the end and that's all I can really ask for.
