The Other Emily
The Other Emily | Dean Koontz
Number one New York Times bestselling master of suspense Dean Koontz takes readers on a twisting journey of lost love, impossible second chances, and terrifying promises. A decade ago, Emily Carlino vanished after her car broke down on a California highway. She was presumed to be one of serial killer Ronny Lee Jessup's victims whose remains were never found. Writer David Thorne still hasn't recovered from losing the love of his life, or from the guilt of not being there to save her. Since then, he's sought closure any way he can. He even visits regularly with Jessup in prison, desperate for answers about Emily's final hours so he may finally lay her body to rest. Then David meets Maddison Sutton, beguiling, playful, and keenly aware of all David has lost. But what really takes his breath away is that everything about Maddison, down to her kisses, is just like Emily. As the fantastic becomes credible, David's obsession grows, Maddison's mysterious past deepens--and terror escalates. Is she Emily? Or an irresistible dead ringer? Either way, the ultimate question is the same: What game is she playing? Whatever the risk in finding out, David's willing to take it for this precious second chance. It's been ten years since he's felt this inspired, this hopeful, this much in love...and he's afraid.

I didn‘t realize the KU program had this authors titles available! This is a super fast read. Little over 100 pages. This is my first time reading him and I have to say it won‘t be the last. There was suspense and romance and…yeah just really engaging characters.

persephone1408 I'm currently collecting all the odd thomas books. I read a book by him when I was in high school and I loved it. 2y
Fr3NcHtOaSt @persephone1408 Odd Thomas is great. And after you read the first book, you can watch the movie. It‘s pretty good if you know what it‘s about going into the movie 2y
persephone1408 @Fr3NcHtOaSt ive already seen the movie...multiple times. I love Antosha Yelchin. 😢 2y

“She is lost, and you must find her, but she leaves no trail, no footprints or spoor of any kind, and the way is dark, for she has gone into the forest of the night, where the trees are black and leafless, where the soon and the stars do exist, where the sun will never rise, where the path is ever downward, yet he descends in a desperate search, for she does not belong here among the dead, not when she is so alive in his mind and #FirstLineFridays

⭐⭐ Normally I devour Dean Koontz novels. But this one...idk. It's like I didn't even much care about the story at all until past halfway. I did like the direction it eventually took, but this one just didn't pull me in. 🤷

It‘s been awhile since I‘ve read Koontz. He‘s a great story teller, and I highly recommend this one, which is a great blend of thriller and the seemingly impossible.

David Thorne is a writer who lost the love of his life ten years ago to a horrible act of violence. One rainy night he meets Madison who looks, behaves and entices exactly like Emily. Koontz takes us through David‘s journey to discover the truth.

Love me some Koontz. Nice quick reading palate cleanser after a bit of a slump. Great reminder of how a book can suck you in.

Cosmos_Moon_River Just have to add this, cause I‘m Emily and you said it‘s good 😂 3y
OutAndAbout @Cosmos_Moon Well Emily has kind of a tough time along the way so as long as you‘re up for a little distress, it‘s definitely creepy. 3y
