88% ...and I ran out of time and have to return it to the library now. And get back in line to get it back. 🤦🤷 So I guess I'll finish this one next year!! 😂 Note to self: when reading a massive King book, read only that book and nothing else if you want to finish it all in one borrow!

⭐⭐⭐ The most depressing book I have ever read (and yes it gets 3 stars anyway). Since Covid this hits a bit closer to home as Shelley describes the spread of the plague, fear of the contagion, the decline of mankind. Really makes you think what if?

Bailedbailed

Okay, I've put this off for months, so I think it's time to officially bail on this one. 18%. It's just not for me. Super long-winded, very dull backstory. Every time I think of picking it up again I just can't bring myself to do it. The parts about the monster or whatever it will turn out to be just aren't worth the rest.

PageShifter Wise move! Sometimes those books that you are keeping on your currently reads -pile should goes through. And you never know if there is going to be better time to give it one more chance but it might be easier to start from the beginning then. 1w
kplovesbooks @PageShifter Exactly. It was on my Kindle, so I just moved it over to my "probably will never finish" folder...just in case I ever decide to go back to it. ? 1w
PageShifter I actually noticed now that I have checked this book's information earlier as well and I have been interested in reading this one. But I saw now that this has divided opinions. (edited) 1w
Twainy This book was a CHALLENGE!! The first half is so long & boring!!! It explains a lot but B O R I N G!!! Last 25% of the book made a 2 star book a 3.75 star book. Still. Was it worth it … IDK. LOL 1w
kplovesbooks @Twainy LOL. I'm glad I decided to bail then!! I kept being like "well it may get better" but if I gotta wait until the last 25%...?? 1w

37% into this 600 page book...and it's only JUST NOW mentioning the main topic of the plague for the first time. 😂😂 Shelley apparently wanted us to have major backstory before getting to the plot; it's been describing the characters' various emotions, personalities, and circumstances for over 200 pages! I'm enjoying reading it though!

⭐⭐ Was it creepy? Yes. Was it interesting? Yes. Was it a good book? Nope! ...parts of it just didn't sit right with me. There's something deeply disturbing to my soul about people wanting to bring the dead back to life and thinking there won't be consequences.

Okay. I tried to push on a little further. 40%. I just literally DON'T CARE about anything the characters are doing. ? ⭐⭐⭐⭐😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔
Emotional, heartbreaking, raw, real... y'all, I was not prepared for this book!! Exceptional. (Warning: there is a TON of language here, but I'm glad I stuck with it because this book is just different on so many levels.)

Crazeedi I was overwhelmed by this book. Such a change from happily ever after kind of books. It really invaded my heart 1mo
kplovesbooks @Crazeedi Right?!?! This was probably more akin to real life than any novel I've ever read. 💔 1mo
Crazeedi @kplovesbooks your comment is exactly what I wanted to say but couldn't come up with the words. Real life, yes yes yes. It was a book unlike any I've read in a long time 1mo
kplovesbooks @Crazeedi Thank you! 👌 And agreed... it's very unlike any other book. I love when a story is different; too many books carry the same feels, but this one definitely did not. 1mo

#currentlyreading Well this one is...different! And I mean that in a good way. I'm about halfway through and I'm enjoying it. There's a ton of language in it, more than I'm usually okay with, but otherwise it's such a good read so far that I'm trying to ignore that.

Idk. I'm at 37% and it's just NOT grabbing me. I'm not sure if it's just me that's a bit thriller'd out...or if it's just a blah book. And I don't really understand why it has to go back in time and give us the POV of the dead family?? 🤷 ...seriously thinking of setting the one aside for now.
