I think I could've liked this more if it had been longer, but it was still good. Both the protagonists were compelling and I would've liked spending more time with them in their lake world.

Listened to a podcast where TJ Klune recommended Lakelore and well, no need to question! Grabbed this read off NetGalley and it was amazing! A very honest, genuine and well-written story that will stay with me for a long time. Highly recommend! #LitsyLoveReads
I've long been a fan of Anna-Marie McLemore, but this was definitely not my favorite of their work. It still had their signature dreamlike magical realism style with beautiful descriptive writing, but didn't feel developed enough. Maybe it was because I was multitasking while listening to it, but I did not connect with the characters and there wasn't much in the way of a plot...
This was such an amazing read! I actually only just finished it so I'm having trouble forming words but it's the book I needed in my life now, the characters are great and the plot interesting. it's mainly a book about loving ourselves but told in such a beautiful way 💕 and it's idk a really raw read #trans #nonbinary #dyslexia #adhd
I loved the lush and vibrant imagery and magical realism throughout this book. The secret world below the lake is starting to encroach on the real world in waves. The two main characters are trans nonbinary, one with ADHD and one with dyslexia. They have to learn to trust each other with their secrets and overcome past trauma.
This was a quick read with interesting perspectives on gender and neurodivergency
Moving right along with #ThingsInCommon - two people facing opposite on the cover

The representation and character development in this magical realist young adult novel were excellent. The two main characters are both neurodivergent trans masc non-binary Mexican-American teens and I was deeply engaged with their relationship and internal struggles, but this book just didn‘t deliver on the magical realism front. There really wasn‘t much to the “lake lore,” so it just felt like a really obvious metaphor—and a little too didactic.
