The Brighton police force is on the hunt for another killer, but this time they have some competition--a newly formed all-women's private eye firm, led by none other than the police chief's wife.

After the events of the last book, Emma and Sam decided to start a detective agency, and their first case is a doozy. I found the parallel investigations of the police and the detective agency to be a little repetitive, but I liked the story otherwise. I‘d thought it was the last in the series, but Goodreads tells me there‘s at least one more. I‘m glad, because this one opens up some interesting threads for the main characters. #serieslove2024

My 1st read of the Brighton Mysteries-It was written during lockdown, which the author found a bit challenging.Emma Holmes & Sam Collins open a PI agency. They are hired by Verity Malone,a music hall star from days gone by,to investigate the murder of her philandering, mean spirited, theatre impresario, husband. The Brighton police are also on the murderer‘s trail, so their pursuit intertwines with the PIs in a wild scramble thru England.Fun,engaging.

This is the 6th book in the Brighton Mysteries. It takes place in 1965 and gives a good peek at the UK in the 60's. Emma Holmes has started her new Detective Agency and Sam Collins is her partner. Bert Billington, theatre impresario has been poisoned and his wife, Verity, is a suspect. She hires Emma's agency and secrets from the old music hall days abound.

EadieB It's the era of The Women's Right Movement and women are not allowed to drive police cars. At times, Emma's child care falls through and that poses some problems. Griffith's writing is excellent and the characters are very interesting. It is a bit gruesome in parts for a cozy mystery. 3y
EadieB I enjoyed the surprise twist in the end and didn't guess the murderer. I'm now looking forward to the next book in the series. I would like to thank NetGalley and Mariner Books for a free copy for an honest review. (edited) 3y

The latest installment from the Brighton Mysteries, again a murder to do with the entertainment world. This time see Emma and Sam who have set up their own private detective agency also investigating along side the police. It's a good story, the characters are all really interesting and had no idea who the killer was. I still have books 2 and 4 to read.

Sunday afternoon, thought Verity Malone, was a blameless time of day.
