I had high hopes for this book.But it was repetitive & disorganized to the point where I felt I was going in circles as the author seemed to, without much clear information to hold on to.For me the experience was so disconcerting that I began rapidly skimming part way through, to see if I could find anything redeeming or just a tidbit to salvage the mess. Nope.

I finished all these books but The Dictionary of Lost Words which I started yesterday. A couple I did review but I want to do the other reviews this week. #marvelousmay #readathon #May14to22 #2022

Early breakfast while the sun is low. Just a few dog walkers to greet,bikers to watch.Other than that the quiet is only interrupted by bird song,& the gentle lull of my porch chimes.
I am feeling disappointed about this book.I feel I have to make a chart of different women because the author seems to jump around making me feel scattered.Then I came to this sentence: “ It was bad.”(28) OMG we purposely do not let our 9th graders use the word “bad”!

This book was problematic for me for a couple of reasons. Although the author is upfront about her lack of experience writing true crime she still seemed to meander about oftentimes repeating herself. The other thing that was off putting are her swipes at America and our crime when this truly has nothing to do with these unsolved cases. This actually takes away from the missing women which is a shame as they deserve to have their stories told.

The Vanishing Triangle refers to an area in Ireland from where eight young women vanished into thin air never to be seen again. I thought this was a riveting read. It's not a book where the author solves the cold cases, McGowan admits that early on, it's a book which looks at the social issues in Ireland & Northern Ireland at the time. 4🌟

Written very badly. I struggled thru the entire book. What I did like was learning about these cases, but I found the writing was repetitive and the fact she mentions several times how horrible America was when these cases had absolutely nothing to do with America was a little off putting. Also strays from the victims to other cases that may or may not be connected. It was just really confusing.
