Bettie Hughes is broke and trying to figure out how to keep her family from discovering that facts over Christmas. When she accidentally summons the Holiday Spirit (Hall), things only get more chaotic.

I really wasn't sure I would love this book, but it really surprised me. Bettie transforms from an unrelatable and selfish character to someone I was really rooting for. It made me smile, and it made me cry. A perfect holiday read.

DNF at 20%. The writing is a mess. The story jumps around. The MC has no redeeming qualities, nothing to root for. Her first several wishes don‘t make sense given what Hall says about wishes. Hall is a watered down version of Elf, trying to be funny but failing. Given that the MC is in her early/mid-20s, maybe I‘m just not the right demographic for this book. At least it‘s one more off my shelf.

Book 3 for #dashingdecember

This book didn‘t grab me from the start. Although the writing is witty, I did not like Bettie at all - she‘s self absorbed and spoiled. Hall is a lot like Buddy the Elf, but soon, we see how these two learn from each other. I‘m glad I hung on… this is a cute, heartwarming holiday grumpy-and-sunshine story.

Drunk broke former social media influencer accidentally summons the Holiday Spirit, aka Hall. Christmas chaos ensues. At times this book was too cutesy and precious, but at other times I laughed out loud, and in the end I was glued to the pages.

I have similar feelings about Cary Grant!

Started this one now and can already tell it‘ll be better than what I just finished (Identity by Nora Roberts).

This had a really rough start... But it improved after a couple of chapters and ended up being quite charming!

Omg, Hall is adorable and I wish they would make this into a holiday movie. With Lacey Chabert. She was a bit annoying, but grew in me. He was just so darn adorable. And the family dynamics from start to finish. I‘m super in the holiday mood now, so a great airplane book!
