There's No Way I'd Die First
There's No Way I'd Die First | Lisa Springer
14 posts | 5 read | 6 to read
A spine-tingling contemporary horror novel that follows a scary-movie buff as she hosts an elaborate Halloween bash but soon finds the festivities upended when she and her guests are forced to test their survival skills in a deadly game, from debut author Lisa Springer. Seventeen-year-old Noelle Layne knows horror. Every trope, every warning sign, every survival tactic. She even leads a successful movie club dedicated to the genre. Who better to throw the ultimate, most exclusive Halloween party on all of Long Island? With some of the top influencers in her school on the guest list, including gorgeous singer-songwriter Archer Mitchell, her popularity is bound to spike. She could really use the social boost for an upcoming brand expansion. Nothing is going to ruin this party. Exceptmaybe the low budget It clown she hired for a stirring round of tag. He axes one of her classmates. From the looks of his devilish grin and bag full of killer tricks, he's just getting started. A murderous clown is out for blood, but Noelle has been waiting her entire life to prove that shes a Final Girl.

There‘s No Way I‘d Die First by Lisa Springer was not what I expected it to be. You can‘t judge a book by its cover but I did. One thing is clear , the story pays homage to horror movies and the main character being a fan of the genre. I really liked Noelle. YA horror is my new favorite sub genre. It‘s diverse and inclusive. I‘m already looking forward to Lisa Springer‘s next book. #theresnowayiddiefirst #lisaspringer

Had to get creative on this one, since I don't seem to own any books with bones in the title or on the cover lol

My little one has the sniffles, so I'm letting him sleep in while I do some morning reading. My dining room decorations provide a killer backdrop for the tagged book lol

I'm not sure I'll read this one, but the cover is so eye-catching. That #shadow is super creepy!

A really fun and surprisingly action packed read for Scarathon and a great fit for number 6 on the photo challenge “Shadow”!

This one was a trip. A lot more modern fight-back-survive-the-night over a slow creeping dread. Saw and Ready or Not Vibes. It felt a liiiittle preachy in places but overall fun!

ShyBookOwl Reading this now for my virtual book club! I find all the characters varying degrees of unlikable but am still enjoying the story. Gage is kind of terrifying lol 7mo

A little backyard reading while the kiddo naps 😌

Fun book, but I find most of the characters unlikable, including the protagonist

This one is fun so far. I do love a meta-horror, but I have absolutely nothing other than horror fandom in common with these characters... teen influencers who live in mansions 😅

I am SO excited for this one! A Black Final Girl, Yay!! This cover art is amazing, too. I love the juxtaposition of that pretty pink dress with a strong, muscular body. And that she looks ready for a fight, rather than afraid. Since it's set on Halloween, I picked it as next month's read for my online book club on Fable. Feel free to join!! Link below 🎃
