When the Nazis launched an attack on education, libraries and books, the Polish people fought back. This is the story of young women who banded together, hiding and smuggling books in any way that they could, so that people could still read. Fascism tried to stamp out Jewish people and books once before. It is trying to stamp out other people and even more books again. This is a fictional book based on real events, but it should serve as a ⬇️

As my favorite genre is historical fiction, a lot of said books are centered around WW2, like this one.

I wanted to love this. WW2, strong female protagonist, books … sounds 100pc up my street and yet unfortunate it was a very soft like for me. I was left with an overwhelming sense that thjs was a book I had already read and books that tackled the difficult topics better. There was almost too much happening here and that might reflect reality of scary, chaotic lives at war there was not enough depth to convince me. Would have preferred a narrower ⬇️

This story was interesting, although I do feel that it went a bit long. The last 1/4 of the book I kept thinking, “okay, let‘s wrap this up.” But overall a good read. “Good books are like amazing sunsets and awe inspiring landscapes. Better enjoyed with someone else.” -Zophia

So this library book about protecting books was defaced🤦🏻‍♀️

This definitely pulled on a lot of emotions, & really brought to life the terrible experiences the Jewish community had to endure. What an amazing story about people doing their best to save books & keep the true purpose of the library alive. Zofia was a wonderful character who deeply loved her best friend Janina, & what both woman went through during the Nazi occupation in Poland. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is AMAZING. If you love BOOKS, you need to read this book. Inspired by a true story, it is about how a group of book lovers in Warsaw, Poland created an underground library to save many of the books in their libraries when the Nazis wanted them destroyed.

A WWII book with a focus on the Polish Resistance saving banned books. Finished just in time for the authors visit tonight.

I have come to really enjoy this author‘s work, so I preordered this when I read the description. It arrived on my Kindle overnight. I hate to rush through my current read, but this is definitely next on my TBR, which will make it two new releases in a row—something I never do!
