Truly a beautiful novel seamlessly combining a modern time with the past. I was so invested in this whole story that I didn‘t want it to come to a close! From the twist to the mixing with the modern times this historical fiction was beautiful. My heart was racing at times for the WWII characters Irene and Cordelia, other times my heart broke for them. One of my favorite WWII books lately!

Beautiful book told mostly through letters between friends during the war. The letters start out so hopeful that the war will end by Christmas as many newspapers has predicted at the beginning of WWI. But as the years go on you see the hope falter and the strength of the friends as people die and the war presses on. It‘s a beautiful book that definitely pulls on your heart strings!

This book truly took you on an adventure! You thought you knew what was coming next but it would always take a twist. I loved Clara and her strong sense of self. She knew what she had to do during the war and accepted the changes post war. She stayed strong and that‘s what made her such a wonderful character to read about.

I fell in love with this book! I loved Callie right from the beginning & she is such a relatable character. You laughed with her & cried for her throughout. I loved when she would read from Elisas diary & you‘d go on another adventure. Elisa was another character that you couldn‘t help but love for her passion & determination. I‘ll definitely be seeking out this authors work.

This was a great book! I loved the entirety of Stella‘s story from the past! It was perfect and could have honestly been a complete book by itself. I loved that the story took place in Venice which is not a popular location for WWII historical fictions so it was wonderful to read about the war from another place. Overall I loved how everything came together at the ending and there was definitely a surprise!

Loved this! Loved going back into this magical world with all the adventure and excitement! Picks up right where the first book left off and again the descriptions of each place are so vivid! The war between the Orisha and the Maji continues to rage on, as the story continues. But that ending! Ohhh I‘m dying for the next installment to come out! Such a fabulous book!

The Maggie Hope series has always been one of my favorites! This new addition to the series is definitely no exception! It was fabulous! Pure Maggie! I love her quick wit and strong voice! I loved the ending and how it‘s kind of left up in the air to what adventures that Maggie will face next! Whatever the choice is I‘ll be eagerly anticipating the next installment! Probably one of the most through books I‘ve ever read starting in WWII. I absolutely loved following Alex from the time she was ‘presented‘ to the royal court to all throughout her life as an SOE agent and eventually an MI6 agent, to finishing up with her in her 80‘s! What a fantastic adventurous life! I hardly put it down! Definitely a strong five stars! Full review goodreads.com/Chrysta23

SaturnDoo I have this on my TBR. Glad to see you enjoyed. Danielle Steele used to be a favorite author but in the last 10+ years I quit reading her books because they seemed to be recycled stories from her earlier works. 🤷‍♀️ maybe it's just me. 2mo
SassyBookworm @SaturnDoo this is my first Danielle Steele book, I really enjoyed how it went through her whole life basically rather the a short bit. 2mo

This was a beautifully written book. Though it‘s definitely not my favorite genre I did enjoy the beauty of it. There were several stories that came together and the world in which Morgenstern created was one you definitely wanted to see for yourself.
