The Fellowship was a lovely idea with memorable characters, but it seemed like the book had more descriptions of clothes and food than puzzles. (And there were inconsistencies!) It was also terribly wholesome and life-affirming and full of mindfulness-style wisdom. And since I'm a total grouch I found the sum total to be a bit dull.

julesG Ooooookayyyyyyy. I might not read it. 2d
Leniverse @julesG I mean, it didn't actively annoy me like Before the Coffee Goes Cold, but it had a little bit of that same feel to it as those types of books. 2d
Leniverse @julesG Or, it did annoy me a bit when the book made a point of the guy wearing Oxfords, not brogues, and then after that he was a man who liked to wear brogues for the rest of the book. If the author makes me read all about their fashion choices, he can at least remember them himself! (Yes, grouch mood activated 😆) 2d
julesG I didn't like Before the Coffee Goes Cold and I'd definitely feel grouchy about the same inconsistencies. 2d

Easing into #Eastercrime with this book that isn't really crime (I think), but a mystery and a lot of puzzles. It's also one of my #ReadYourKindle picks for April.

julesG This is also on my Kindle. 6d
Leniverse @julesG It was a 99p deal in November or December 😂 6d
Caroline2 I started this last night for Easter crime. Loving it so far! 👍 5d

Clayton Stumper turned up in a hatbox on the fellowship's front porch as a baby. Instead of actually having a heart-to-heart with him before her death, his mother Pippa sets him a treasure hunt to unravel his past. Maybe she just thought he could do with getting some fresh air?

Adorable, but a little boring. If you like low stakes and very little plot, this was a fun meander. Wholesome, but I generally need more meat to sustain my interest.

This was a comforting, cosy read which was what I needed. Perhaps a little stronger in its first half than the second but gentle and heartwarming.

As someone who enjoys puzzles of all types, I had to give this one a shot. It is a sweet story about friends and chosen family and I enjoyed it. It did take me a little longer to read than normal, as I kept stopping to solve the puzzles myself. This is a light read, with a bit of a mystery and a touch of romance and was a lovely calm choice during the crazy build up to Christmas. This is a debut novel and I will watch for more. 3.75/5 stars

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“The Fellowship of Puzzlemakers” was a cute and cozy read about finding yourself and new-found family that was immersed in the vast field of puzzles. I enjoyed this story, and I found that it is a great light read that is also heartwarming.

For the first quarter of this book i thought it might be too twee for me - but then i warmed to the characters and devoured the rest of this heart warming story. It really is a light mystery with a touch of romance - and lots of illustrated cryptic puzzles to solve! (Although i didnt bother trying to solve many of them and it was still a good experience) Clayton is a foundling left on the steps of The Fellowship ⬇️

Centique and brought up mostly by Pippa, the president in her 60s. After Pippas death he finds she has left him a series of puzzles to solve and people to meet to work out where he came from. 9mo
BennettBookworm I just finished this! And I totally agree—still can‘t decide if it was too twee for my liking—but yes I really enjoyed it in the end! 8mo

I really enjoyed this audiobook, but I do kind of wish I‘d gotten it in print, because there are puzzles in it! The audio version does its best to alter them, but without seeing them I couldn‘t attempt to solve them.

This story is delightful, on dual timelines. The first is the creation of the Fellowship, a club for puzzle creators and solvers. The second is after the founder‘s passing, as her adopted son solves the puzzle she left him. 🩷🧩

wanderinglynn Ooh, I definitely need to pick this one up! 💚🧩 11mo
Prairiegirl_reading Good to know! I‘ve been planning to get this one and I was sure I was going to get it on audio just for the accents but now I know to get the paper instead. Thanks!! 11mo
Laughterhp Oh that‘s good to know! I think I have this on hold as an audiobook. 11mo
Soubhiville @Laughterhp @Prairiegirl_reading The audio is very good, but if you‘d prefer to see the puzzles… I still loved it. 11mo
Erinreadsthebooks This is one that didn‘t survive my last reading slump. Hopefully, I‘ll come back to it when it‘s a better fit. 11mo
