The New Hot
The New Hot: Cruising Through Menopause with Attitude and Style | Meg Mathews
5 posts | 2 read | 1 to read
A sassy, accurate, and enormously helpful romp through the midlife transition known as menopause . . . I highly recommend it to all women who want to embrace all the possibilities offered by this change, including vibrant health, a sense of humor, a renewed sense of purpose, and the best sex of your life.Christiane Northrup, MD, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Wisdom of Menopause Brit-pop icon and outspoken menopause ambassador Meg Mathews refused to move quietly into this stage of midlife. Rejecting the idea that we should live in fear, suffer silently, or medicate ourselves unnecessarily through this natural hormonal shift, Mathews set out to get answers and advice from the medical establishment, alternative therapists, and her many friends in the midst of the change. When she launched the Megs Menopause website, it quickly became the trending online destination for pre- and menopausal women all over the world. The New Hot is her no-holds-barred guide to menopause, designed to empower and entertain in equal measure, including: The latest information about hormone therapy and bioidentical hormone therapy Her best tips and techniques for coping with menopausal symptoms (There are officially thirty-four possible symptoms; Mathews has personally dealt with thirty-two!) Dishy, girlfriend-to-girlfriend advice about what to really expect when youre aging Honest, stylish, and informative, The New Hot will help you take on menopauseand keep you sense of self, style, and humor intact.

I am not in menopause yet. But I am getting nervous about it being around the corner. As a true book nerd, I am going to be researching the hell out of it! Anyway, this book was written in such a lovely way. I love the “down-to-earth “nature of this book, which allowed me to really feel less scared. #BookSpin @TheAromaOfBooks

MemoirsForMe Be fearless! There are many myths and misconceptions that make menopause scarier than it is. 5d
dabbe My two cents: if you suddenly feel your heart racing, and you break out into a sweat over your entire body, it‘s not a heart attack; it‘s your first 🥵 flash! 😘 5d

ElizaMarie @dabbe Thanks! I am worried thats gonna happen while I am with a difficult patient (knowing my luck). But thank you for being open/honest with me about your experience. I was thinking of coming up with a perimenopause group or something. Like a little support group - maybe in the same of Self Care Type of group. 5d
ElizaMarie @MemoirsForMe YES thats why I am trying to get more info - so I won't be lost! 5d
dabbe @ElizaMarie That's a fabulous idea! I only remember one specific time when I had one during class; I just stepped out in the hall until it passed. You might not be able to do something like that. Most only last a few minutes, and most of mine occurred when I was sleeping in bed for some reason. 5d
TEArificbooks I have good days and bad days with it. There are way more symptoms than you realize. I completely understand “Karen‘s” now. Kinda like a period, as time goes on the symptoms start light and then increase then decrease. But each stage can take years. I just picked up Naomi Watts book about it. 5d

Need to take better care of myself, my mental and physical health. I have been on the way side with taking my medications daily, exercising, and maintaining hydration. Stuff like that. I need to get into gear and create good habits, to carry me into the next phase of life - not here yet but - soon

Today:
💚 I did some yoga - need more movement and stretching in life
💚 I am going to f/u with my Drs
💚 Already filled water bottle !!!

Read4life You‘ve got this! I find making myself start is harder than actually doing the things I know are good for me. 2w
dabbe Ditto, m‘dear! And @Read4life is so right … the starting part is the hardest. One step at a time. 😍 2w
PuddleJumper Somatic movement is great, very gentle and restorative. Hope it made you feel a bit better 1w

#Two4Tuesday @TheSpinView (thanks for the tag)

1. I tend to drop books on my face, so I kinda have to read sitting up.
2. I love how honest this book is. The amount of information and normalization of what is happening to our bodies is something I really needed. So a #PerfectTiming type of book (not in menopause yet, but premenopausal).

Come play: @Aroyse @ElaineReadsNRambles @Morr_Books

TheSpineView My Dad used to do #1 all the time. It was funny. It brings back good memories! Thanks for playing 3w
dabbe Dropping books on your face? That's hysterical! 🤩🤣🤩 Probably painful, though, too! 💚💜💚 3w
ElizaMarie @dabbe It was way worse before I had eye surgery and had to wear glasses to read. Bonking yourself with a book while wearing glasses can leave some marks! Ha! 3w
