A powerful plant witch and a grumpy alchemist must work together to save their quiet town from a magical plague in this debut cozy fantasy romance about starting over, redemption, and what it really means to be a good person. Guy Shadowfade is dead, and after a lifetime as the dark sorcerers right-hand, Violet Thistlewaite is determined to start overnot as the fearsome Thornwitch, but as someone kind. Someone better. Someone good. The quaint town of Dragons Rest, Violet decides, will be her second chanceshell set down roots, open a flower shop, keep her sentient (mildly homicidal) houseplant in check, and prune dark magic from the twisted boughs of her life. Violets vibrant bouquets and cheerful enchantments soon charm the welcoming townsfolk, though nothing seems to impress the prickly yet dashingly handsome Nathaniel Marsh, an alchemist sharing her greenhouse. With a struggling business and his own second chance seemingly out of reach, Nathaniel has no time for flowers or fripperyand certainly none for the intriguing witch next door. When a mysterious blight threatens every living plant in Dragons Rest, Violet and Nathaniel must work together through their fears, pasts, and growing feelings for one another to save their community. But with a figure from her past knocking at her door and her secrets threatening to uproot everything shes worked so hard to grow, Violet cant help but wonderdoes a former villain truly deserve a happily-ever-after?

4/5

Violet may have been a villain, but when evil adopted father dies, she has an opportunity to start over, by opening a florist shop in the town next to the castle she used to live in. But a power vacuum is tempting to other villains, and Violet may find it harder to be good than she expected.

I really enjoyed this cozy fantasy about people looking for a second chance.

Very cute, mostly closed-door, cozy fantasy romance. The stakes are super low if you know the genre (as usual honestly), but the story is entertaining and easy to read! The only drawback for me is how hard the author goes at “MUST leave breadcrumbs for a potential sequel” by the end.

My final #BOTM pick. It looks super cute and I think I need that right now.
I have one more credit to burn but I couldn‘t fine anything else I really wanted that I don‘t already own, and I‘m due to renew in November, so I have to pause or cancel.
I am very excited about this hat however.
What did you all get?

Read-n-Bloom I loved the colors of this one and story sounded good, but I picked House of Glass. 2mo

Even villains can change with the right guidance and support! The characters were amusing and the plot well-paced and fun. Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for an eARC.

I had a really good time with this romance in a fantasy world that has themes about second chances and loving your whole self not just the parts you think you should. The world and side characters added color to the narrative and I feel like Violet and Nathaniel together strengthen each other which is what I want most in a romance novel.

HeyT Thank you to #NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for the ARC. Expected pub date 11/18/2025 5mo
