10 posts | 19 read | 6 to read
After seven national bestsellers and eight seasons as one of the most successful shows on television,New York Timesbestselling author Jeff Lindsay bids a thrilling farewell to his uniquely twisted and beloved serial killer, Dexter Morgan.Dexter Is Deadis the definitive conclusion of the character who has become a global icon. Dexter Morgan has burned the candle at both ends for many years. Blood spatter analyst . . . husband . . . father . . . serial killer. And now, for the first time, his world has truly collapsed. Dexter is arrested on charges of murder. He has lost everythingincluding his wife, his kids, and the loyalty of his sister. Now completely alone, Dexter faces a murder charge (for a crime . . . ironically . . . he did not actually commit). His only chance for freedom lies with his brother, Brian, who has a dark plan to prove Dexter's innocence. But the stakes are deadly, and the epic showdown that lies in Dexter's path may lead, once and for all, to his demise. Jeff Lindsay's trademark devilish wit and cutting satire have never been sharper.Dexter Is Deadmarks the end of a beloved series, but is also Dexter's most satisfying and suspenseful outing yet. From the Hardcover edition.

#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024 This is the eighth and final book in the Dexter series. The first six books in the series had so much dark humor and I really missed that in the last two. But it‘s still a pick because I‘d hate for Dexter‘s story to end on a sour note.

8-31-22: My 86th finished book of 2022! Book 8 and the final book of the Dexter series. This book finds Dexter in jail for a few murders and pedophilia which he actually didn‘t commit. With the help of his brother, Brian, he gets out and gets representation that will help prove he is being framed. Deborah wants nothing to do with him until she needs his help. I didn‘t love the final chapter. ⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣8️⃣6️⃣

The final, and probably worst, of the series.

My hate to love character is Dexter's brother Brian from the series. I really loved seeing more of him in the final installment even though I have lots of #lovehate feelings for the series as a whole 🤪 @WhiskeyMistress @ErinSueG

Erinsuereads Hahahah! I haven‘t watched the series but I know enough to know that @WhiskeyMistress and our friend tommy refuse to watch the last two episodes. So much so that it has become a verb. To dexter is to never watch the ending of a show 😂😂 5y
WhiskeyMistress @ErinSueG is right, I just finished Scandal and I didn‘t want to, I “dextered” it haaard. 5y
MatchlessMarie @ErinSueG lol I think the books did better than the showtime series but not much better 😂 5y
MatchlessMarie @WhiskeyMistress I might end up using that phrase soon the way the final season of criminal minds is shaping up to be 🙈 5y

monkeygirlsmama Never read the books, but devoured the tv show. 😭 7y
MatchlessMarie @monkeygirlsmama I think Michael C. Hall did a great job on the show, but I think the show was way over-sexualized compared to the books. But that's showtime for you 😉 I also liked that there is more of a dynamic with Brian in the books. 7y
monkeygirlsmama @MatchlessMarie I plan to read them one of these days. 7y

Mehso-so

To say this was so-so is generous. Let me sum this book up for you: Dexter gets hungry. Dexter sits in Miami traffic. Dexter gets hungry while sitting in Miami traffic. The end.
